Second baseman Skip Schumaker and outfielder Allen Craig will have examinations in St. Louis today after injuries made them unavailable for Sunday's series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Schumaker suffered a hyperextended right elbow during an at-bat Friday and Craig strained his left groin stealing a base in Saturday night's 9-2 win. Craig was double-switched from Saturday's eighth inning and said he was unable to continue after suffering the strain. Schumaker attempted to take batting practice before Saturday's game but still experienced discomfort.

Schumaker did not take batting practice before Sunday's game but said that he felt less discomfort. "I've never had an elbow injury before, so I really don't know. But I'm optimistic since it's not as bad today," he said.
