Watching these videos of Scoot, I can't help but wonder who Shae is working out with this summer to improve his 3-point shot.
I know he has a trainer, but another voice can't hurt. I also hope he is getting a little stronger in the weight room.

One reason I hated him was he always seemed to hit the clutch 3

Shaedon doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who posts videos about himself.

Yeah its kind of shocking how his 3p% went from 36.0 > 33.3 > 31.1 his first three seasons. It looks like he has a great shot but it hasn't translated to games.

Now with Ant/Ayton gone he's arguably the worst defender out of the Blazers 10 man rotation. If he's going to start over Grant he needs to earn it.

Maybe Scoot ends up starting with Jrue more than Shae.

My guess is that he is not worse than he was, but is just taking more difficult 3-point shots.

I would think the first season was with Dame so he was probably taking a lot of corner threes and catch and shoot threes.

Simons sucks at distributing. I don’t know how much Scoot and Shae played together. Shae hasn’t been good at the pull-up threes.

I mean if that's the case is he or the coaches stupid? Like seriously - just don't do that.

He took 472 threes last season second on the team to Simons - while having one of the worst percentages. 10 Blazers were more efficent from three - including multiple centers (Timelord and Reath)

If Grant/Ant/Thybulle -etc shot so much and so horrible fans would be demanding they get cut from the team.

He did take a LOT of ill-advised 3's last year.

Grant and Thybulle are both spot up shooters. I think that's what Shaedon was mostly doing his rookie season.

But now we have him on the ball more often and a lot more of his threes are pull ups. That's why his percentage tanked (I think).

    I guess Dame inspired him.

Dame shoots the most difficult, too much effort threes, he makes them more often than not tho

He is still learning. I am sure the coaches are saying the same things many fans in this forum are saying:

    "Be more aggressive on offense."

He needs to find that "happy medium". Hopefully, that is more aggressive in attacking the basket, while shooting mostly open 3s.

One of the things I hated most about the Dame era and especially how Simons began emulating it. Hope Sharpe can stop doing that.

I'm fine with those shots late in the shot clock. But they aren't high percentage looks to do as soon as guys cross mid court.

I agree with this but that dynamic seem more like 2pt attempts than 3pt to me.

There is Scoot and Sharpe on Catch and shoot stats.

    Here is isolation

    upload_2025-7-11_10-22-14.png

    Here is pullup numbers
    upload_2025-7-11_10-25-17.png
    upload_2025-7-11_10-25-37.png

Just for comparison, here are Shae's stats from his rookie season
    Pullups

    upload_2025-7-11_10-29-4.png

    Catch and shoot
    upload_2025-7-11_10-30-8.png
    upload_2025-7-11_10-30-24.png

So Sharpe shot 45.5% from three on catch and shoot threes during his rookie season. That number has tanked to 31% last season. He has actually improved his pullup three% though from 25% to 31%

My first thought was that Derek Fisher had horrible mechanics. He shot pretty well, but it's hard to see a shooting coach with bad form. Consistent repetition's are often the fastest way to improving. Most of the skills that players have comes from muscle memory.

I think last season screwed that up for this group unless we get extremely lucky.
