I agree. I thought last night's episode was pretty good. A good set up for craziness that's gonna happen next week. That's a good point. I didnt think about that.
Last episode was the set-up for the season. This episode was the calm before the storm of the massive battle episode next week. I mean, a lot of GoT (and, even more so, the books) is political maneuvering and character development. I used to say that LotR was an example of "walky" fantasy (having an epic journey and quest) whereas A Song of Ice and Fire was an example of a "talky" fantasy (palace intrigue, plans, verbal confrontations). Last episode was Sam dropping the Targaryen revelation on Jon, this episode was Jon dropping the same revelation on Dany. Other things happened, just not physically oriented things mostly.
Better than the first ep - that was a total throw-away piece of garbage episode. Brienne at least gave ep 2 some feels. So far I'm shocked at how disappointing the final season is. I had already lost most of my interest in the show, but I thought once it started airing again I'd be right back in it. But...yawn. Hope they all die and the Night King takes the Iron Throne.
I've enjoyed it, but I'm on board with your last line. Go team Night King! The way the people conduct life in that world, maybe all memory of it should be erased...ha
I though the two episode's were filmed in to much darkness. I here that the Knight King is JS's real pop.
I'm thinking just the opposite: Eps 1 and 2 are way too compressed, as is season 8, as was season 7. Consider this: In the next 4 episodes, our heroes need to 1) fight the night king's army 2) defeat the night king's army 3) kill the night king 4) fight the Lannister army 5) defeat the Lannister army 6) take over the throne 7) have some sort of resolution to the series. That's WAY too much for 4 episodes - should be more like 10 episodes.
Unless the Night King wins and eternal winter comes then they can just end the show with a black screen I'm guessing the Night King wins the Battle of Winterfell and then the ones left will have to regroup and defeat the Night King, so yeah, a lot left to cover.
Episode 2 was great imo. A goodbye of sort to many characters. Briennes story for example, is complete. The whole vibe was a nice set up for the impending bloodbath. I miss two characters though; Ramsay and Littlefinger. They brought so much to the show.
