I haven't watched as many games this year as I have in years past because I just haven't really like the most recent iteration of the team, but this year especially I have lost a bit more interest. Honestly I almost always forget we have new announcers, and when I begin a stream where I first find the Blazer announcer stream, I have many times thought I got the opposing teams announcers because these guys are pretty bland. I honestly miss Mike Barrett, but I was thrilled that they finally put Mike Rice out to pasture, that guy was about 10 years beyond senile and the last few years I found him frankly unbearable.

It's unfortunate though because I enjoyed Mike B. a lot, and I thought he got much better in the last 5 years or so in calling the games and being far less whiny than he was when I started tuning in again post Jail Blazers. They should have just found a replacement for Mike Rice and kept Barrett for the long haul, not sure who would have been a good color partner for Barrett, but as someone else mentioned maybe a former player, like maybe Sheed? That would have been classic, hah!

TLDR: I think although these guys are bland, they aren't Mike Rice, and therefore that's an improvement, or an addition by subtraction of an alcoholic senile old man.

I, personally, find it offensive that Calabro still mistakes one player for another almost every game..how much does he get paid to know our team?

I just wish they would stick to basketball. My wife said last night - I can't watch the game because of these guys.

I'm moving into the Acceptance portion of my grief, but I'm still in grief. MnM made my watching experience much more enjoyable. CnH is barely better than mute.

last nights game was difficult to listen to/watch because of their pointless inane banter. Mike and Mike did that too, tho usually not to the degree and length that these guys did it.

Although I really doubt that anyone from the broadcasting side of things is reading this, but if they do, please heed this advice.

For the love of god, quit trying to be funny Lamar and stick to basketball commentary. I think people like the stuff you talk about, that is basketball related. That's not to say you need to "stay in yo lane", but at least recognize that there is a lane once in a while.

People don't tune into the games to listen to Lamar and Kevin talk about rappers or what cheese ball hat he was wearing at the Rip City relay.

It was like listening to a kid give a book report on a book they didn't read. A lot of filler and no substance.

Do not like them very much. They talk too much.
We are watching the game via TV not Radio.
What I want from these/any anouncers is comemtary that I can't see.
Like who came in for who and time outs and time left etc. And get the names right Calabro.
Hurd is ok except they are too long winded with their antidotes and get in the way of the game info.
He has fairly good insite to play info, screens etc. but is too long winded.
They both talk too much about the other player/team.
AND GET THE DAMM ADDS OFF THE SCORE INFO AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN.
The experiance is supposed to be the content of the game and our teams players.
They ride the team plane surely they can get some interesting background on players and coaches.

Repeat from eariler in this thread!!!!

    Excellent post.

Should be required reading for Calabro and Hurd. And their boss.

While I thought their actual basketball announcing and commentary was better than last year, it's all the other crap and Hurd's terrible attempts at humor that ruin it for them. And me.

Hurd is actually not that bad at basketball commentary. I think. It's hard to tell with all the other crap coming out of his mouth.

Calabro is a dreadful Twitter follow too, all he does is retweet and tweet about Seattle stuff and Seattle sports and politics. Dude acts like he wants nothing to do with Oregon.

Hurd is a lot less annoying this year. He'll be at a big network soon so whatever.

Im tired of the watered down narrative they throw at us all the time. simply restating what the players say in interviews is not actual reporting. or a substitute for knowing the game. mike and mike had real game knowledge that i miss. regardless of the downside. i find myself ignoring these two and wishing they would just give the tv stuff to wheels as well.

I like the new guys more than most of you....this season they have an actual backstory to work with....I'm still a Wheels and Holton guy but I listened to Hurd and Calabro call the Raptors game and enjoyed their call....they seem to be settling in....I heard a Rice interview from Florida this summer and I love the guy, but he's fading....doesn't have the pipes he used to have...Barrett I was just used to....I preferred Wheels over both but have mad respect for Rice's BBIQ...I still want him to take over Daddy Warbuck's job at comcast
