After a rough stretch, all Seattle really needed was to play a team doing worse.

After an embarrassing loss to the Blazers, Boston capitulated in the final period as the Sonics ran away with a 108-87 win, getting big games from Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis, and a couple of important bench cameos from Jerome James and Luke Ridnour.

After a heartbreaking, if not controversial loss to the Warriors the night before, it was Rashard Lewis and Paul Pierce going basket for basket in an opening stanza that brought 53 points. From that point on however, it was Seattle as they took a 10 point lead into halftime, and didn't lose the lead thereafter, polishing it off with a 32-20 final period.

Lewis and Allen, after quiet games against Golden State, nailed 11 of Seattle's season high 18 treys between them. Lewis finished with 28 points, while Allen flirted with a triple double, posting 20, 10 assists and seven rebounds. Ridnour had 13 of his 15 points in the final period, James had all of his 13 in the first half, while Antonio Daniels racked up 10 assists. Paul Pierce dominated the Boston box score with 34 points, seven rebounds and six assists, while Mark Blount and Chris Mihm both had 10 rebounds.

Seattle's 18 three pointers were a franchise record, and their 35 assists were a season high.
