Just random comments really: CJ goes into "total gunner" mode perhaps a bit too readily. Aminu is a turnover waiting to happen. And they're not the regular turnovers, they're the "WTF" kind where he creates a turnover magically out of nothing. It's kind of amazing. He also seems to be a bit of a gunner/ball-stopper. Pressey just dropped below Frazier on the "who shall we keep?" scale. Connaughton impressed me: they had him guard the PG a lot of the time and he moves the ball and hustles.
My two takeaways.... Ed Davis is the Energizer Bunny. I love the hustle and scrappiness. Miles Plumlee looked lost and ineffective, like an old school white stiff. I'm hoping the former keeps it up and the latter starts looking like a guy who is good enough to play for Team USA.
Aminu is still better than batum. His success shooting the ball in the playoffs might not be a fluke, he plays great defense, and he crashes the boards. Hes also shown an ability to get to the rim. The only thing batum does better is passing the ball.
the players were so small it was difficult to see who was who sometimes. I noticed Bellinelli didn't do so well; looked like Aminu was guarding him but I'm not sure. I thought our centers were supposed to be experts at slipping to the basket off pick and rolls; haven't seen that, not saying it's their fault, just haven't seen it attempted. Yes, I think they might as well release Pressey so he can try to find another job. Doesn't bring the ball up quickly, not a scorer and average distributor. I don't know what happened but it seemed in the second half Crabbe was getting hot and then he didn't get the ball for a long time.
It looks like a team that hasn't play together for long time but what I see it been better then what I thought. So it will get better and it only preseason.
What? You really believe this? Over the past few season Nic was considered one of the top SFs in the game. Sent from my Baller-Ass 5.5" iPhone 6+......... FAMS
Pretty much everyone except some Blazers fans? I don't know of anyone who thought he was an all star, but he is well respected as a terrific all around player.
Crap.....I said months back I couldn't remember whether we had Miles, Mason or whatever other Plumlee there is. All those big, blond white boys look alike. But you can't say I was wrong. Miles did look lost last night....
He had a really bad game..looked like he was overthinking everything but the offense looked out of sync anyway. Plumlee and Davis shot really badly in the first half I saw
Last night? I am not sure I understand why you would think that. He shot over 50 %. Granted he had 1 "heat check" moment but that is what hot shooters do. The thing with CJ is that he is almost always under control when he is shooting. They might not all go in, but they are usually all good shots. As far as I am concerned we need CJ to be aggressive.
I like Nico's game...he just didn't show up when he needed to after Wes went down and that was the last gasp for me. I hope he shines in the east. I blame Minnesota for his troubles.
CJ is just such a perfect 6 man..as a starting pt guard with Pressy backing him up we weren't going to outplay Rondo and Collison anyway..4 assists is meh for a pt guard but CJ is a very, very intelligent basketball player and he's fearless..gotta like that. He could end up being our leading scorer this season.
That's fine when we need scoring (and to be fair, we did) but if he's going to play PG (and he was) he should at least LOOK for other players.
