Normally I would agree with this. And I have gone on record saying I don't want him playing the point because I want him focused on what he does best. And that is scoring. However, as some have pointed out, in Stotts system maybe there is not much difference between the the PG and SG. Either way, like you said....we needed scoring last night and CJ brought us back with his shooting.
You're confusing Aminu with Durant. Durant is better than Batum. No question about it. Batum is unquestionably better than Aminu. Aminu is a one-dimensional scrub whose coach didn't trust him on the court for more than 18 minutes. I hope he has some magical metamorphis here in Portland, but it certainly hasn't happened yet.
Aminu will better average per ball game then Nic had last year. Yes he need cut down his turn overs but that is why you have pre- season for to get use playing together.
Our guards need to start practicing lob passes. Can't count the # of times Plums or Davis were rolling to the rim wide open for an up top pass, and the guard either put up a runner from the foul line, swung to the wing, or tried to force a bounce pass. Wish we still had Sergio/Rudy with this roster. Dudes need to watch some Jlin/Davis PNR vids from last year which was surprisingly effective.
I think CJ agrees with me: http://forwardcenter.net/shootaroun...putes-over-elbows-aminus-first-dad-road-trip/ "I’m not here because I’m a great passer,” said McCollum. “I didn’t get to the NBA being a great passer. Obviously I have to continue to develop that and be able to see the floor, but I’m here to score, and that’s what I’m going to do for a long time in my career until I get old and I have to really be a pass-first guy. I’m going to be looking to be aggressive and pick my spots like I did tonight throughout the entire season. When you don’t got (Lillard) you know you’re going to be lacking some offense, so you’ve got to bring an extra punch.”
It happened while you were sleeping. Aminu had that metamorphosis during the playoffs last year when his coach trusted him for 30 MPG and he put up 13.4ppg, 8.6rpg, 2.4spg and 1.9bpg with a PER = 20.4. Doesn't sound too one-dimensional to me. BNM
Everybody keeps bringing up Aminu and his amazing playoff run. It won't continue at that level, just like Meyers and his run.
I won't go so far to say Aminu and Leonard won't play at a high leve (anything is possible), but I agree that you can get into trouble relying on really small sample sizes.
