You don't have to be sorry, it just really makes me wonder if you truly know how much medical care costs. C sections are major surgery requiring multiple days in the hospital, it's going to be well over $10,000 if there are no complications.
No they can't. http://law.freeadvice.com/malpractice_law/hospital_malpractice/hospital-patients.htm The Emergency Medical and Treatment Labor Act (EMTLA) Imagine a pregnant woman without health insurance living in an area that does not have a public hospital. If she goes into labor and the closest hospital is privately-run, the EMTLA requires that the hospital must admit the woman regardless of her ability to pay as childbirth is considered an emergency situation. The woman's labor and delivery care, regardless of length and complication, should be indistinguishable from that of a fully insured patient. This equal treatment will continue until the end of the emergency (i.e. after the child is born and there are no complications).
Exactly, and somebody has to pay for it and it all eventually gets to us - the tax payers and the insurance premium payers. My point is... what if this hypothetical pregnant woman didn't want to get pregnant in the first place but couldn't afford birth control pills (I'm not talking about abortion as birth control, Denny, I think that's where I'm confusing people). I think birth control should be free to anyone who wants it. People who are truly anti-abortion should get on board with that!
We can't stop women from getting pregnant, doing drugs, drinking, smoking, or not taking care of themselves. We are not our sister's keeper.
Donate to the charity of your choice that hands out birth control. There aren't that many who can't afford it.
I'm not trying to be anybody's keeper, I'm just trying to save us all (us all meaning society) money and preventing unwanted pregnancy is a no brainer. This did start out to be a thread about Planned Parenthood after all.
Should we have races or telethons to fund these birth control charities? Is Jerry Lewis still alive? "I will wear the blood red ribbon to show support for lady parts!"
Donate to Planned Parenthood. I will if it's defunded. According to the dog, women who go there have to beg for services.
