I don't have you on ignore. For some reason, you don't bother me. I disagree with you but you don't make me feel bad like others have.
I think some folks around here would be much happier following a larger market team....ask HCP...personally, I like the underdog identity we've always had.
As for injuries, the Harkless injury killed our momentum and we never got it back last season. Didn't Davis get hurt late in year too?
King King King... I’m not saying you will be wrong. But just like last year, I think it will be a dogfight and we can just as easily be on vacation come playoff time as have home court advantage. The west is just too good with too many unknowns (lakers,Houston) to be sure of anything. And you know I’m a homer bro.
This thread has really gone off the rails. But I would like to say how much I appreciate this. Sometimes it’s easy to forget the greatness of dame, he really is a special player. This team has almost always exceeded expectations (even though the expectations were low). We would be nothing without dame. Best blazer ever.
No this is acknowledging that at a time during the season we were near or at the top of the power rank in bags which is reality. And as much as people are talking about the Blazers sweeping things under the rug what about the loud angry voices sweeping things under the rug here.
We didn't even "barely make the playoffs." We lost to Memphis and Dallas and went 0-4 on a road trip and STILL got 3 seed. We aren't a threat at all to miss the playoffs unless Dame and CJ have major injuries. You guys....
I think we were 16th or lower (below average at one point). So us being a below average team is reality too? I feel like a lot of people see one side or the other and miss the bigger picture. Both sides have valid points and ignore the other half.
Actually we're celebrating Summer League Championship but as for that link, it's a reminder that we played at a very high level in March.
We were 3 he's from missing bro, and every team loses to bad teams at some point, so how is losing to a bad team in our favor? You could also say we got lucky and barely made the playoffs even though we beat GS twice, and swept OKC, and faced many teams without their best player. There's two sides to a coin.
Well stated Schilly! My family has had season tickets since 1974. Only once during that period have we won a championship. Yes, that is the ultimate goal, but not the end all be all to a successful season. When 5/6 of our top players left 3 years ago, I though we were doomed for years of cellar dwelling. Many individuals on this board I think actually hoped for cellar dwelling because it ends in high lottery picks. But those teams are hard to watch, and lottery picks are not a sure bet for success. This was a damn fun season to watch! I'm proud of my Blazers. They earned that 3rd place finish in an incredibly talented West. And I have hope for the future with such a young and developing core. CJ and Dame are in their prime. Nurk is showing a lot of promise (and he's only 23!). And our youngest group of Collins, Swanigan, Layman, Trent, Simons, and Baldwin (if he's not cut) won the Summer League championship! I'm excited about next season! Will we win it all? Probably not. But that won't stop me from enjoying every moment of watching our team give it their all! Go Blazers!
Your fandom is an exercise in futility, then. Since 1980, no small market team without LBJ or Duncan have won a championship. We don't have either of those - we're toast.
Yes, but they have enough experience to be in the prime of their career. That's why so many folks have a problem with drafting guys who are raw projects. Dame and CJ are ready to win *now* - but they need a better supporting cast.
you end the season with a record....how you get there is a moot point...we earned the 3rd seed outright...nothing to do with ignoring losses...Stotts says every season the goal is to play better in March than November...he has a knack for getting teams to do just that.
