you mean like the 6 he put up vs Denver or the 5 he put up vs KC? It is true to enter that next level he needs to win a championship. If he does make that level he is there alone.

I have no cue what you are talking about. If anything, TO has been consistent in saying that if he is covered the other guys are getting the ball, and that was part of the reason he was brought in.</div> http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/99-...004-385358.html some are blind because their eyes do not work, others are blind because they refuse to see....
Who cares if manning is a mad scientest and makes 95 percent audibles at the line. The colts are winning and if teams think they cant stop mannings pass game, step up. Its simple as that. As for the edrin james thats probably why he will be a phin next year. Miami is his home and he wants to go home.
Well, I am completely of the philosophy that a win is a win, whether you get it through a selfish player or not. That doesn't answer the question of whether or not he is being selfish with his calls. Also, I would be a little worried at how unbalanced they are at the goal line. What happens when teams do stop the pass game? Again, I'm not one to criticize success, but there is reason to worry...and yes, I do think Manning is being selfish.
The stat to look at is how often they fail to throw it and how often they fail to run it in....if they are converting a higher % of redzone attempts by throwing than they would be stupid to run the ball down there....I know Edge has fumbled away a couple of redzone possesions this year, how many ints has Manning thrown down there, if its none, than Manning is right to throw it....
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (blackadder)</div><div class='quotemain'><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (JustBry07)</div><div class='quotemain'>So you're assuming that only pocket passers can be NFL champions</div> Let's see. the last few QB's on winning super bowl teams have been; Brady, Dilfer, & Warner. All pocket passers. What a shock!!</div> I dont care thats the past, and a pretty stupid assumption.
Past performance is generally indicitive of future results....not always, but generally....so is it fair to say that no running QB will ever win the Super Bowl? No, im sure it will happen at some point, but the majority of titles will be won by QBs that play the game from the pocket 1st....for clarification, only one QB currently qualifes as a running QB(Vick)....Culpepper and McNabb are mobile, but both have matured and now play the game from the pocket, leaving it only when the play breaks down and they need to buy time or run for a 1st down....Vick is the only QB in the league that has a run option built into most plays as part of his progressions....
.... i dont think manning is being selfish...i mean if EDGE really wanted the carries, he could say it after the game. then start a controversy in Indy. that will get you more carries inside the 20. i am a big fan of running...but if manning is going to pass it let him. why hide his talent? i mean, if you let edge run a game, and he has an outstanding game then leg him have the carries and whatnot. call his number. im not saying he is a bad back, he is a great back. just the colts are winning thru the air. why stop? i mean, *ill pick on the phillybirds* if you wanna say ok, the eagles are winning and the percentage is better with TO there it means that these two guys are selfish{mcnabb and TO} so stop throwing to TO, take him out of the offense, trade him. no. if your team wins thru the air, thow it. now i do agree that if he is going for the TD record then take him out in the 4th quater. after his 6tds, or in the 3rd. and let edge carry the game away. if its yards, then thrown to the 1yrd line and run it in. if it is just playing, then just play now i know the recievers in indy are good too! and he cant do it w/o them. but again, its the team as a whole who is winning. i mean if u put manning on a hurting team like SF. you cant gurantee wins... anyway, untill he comes out and says "im doing it for the record," or "im doing it for yards," im not gonna put out a real definate answer.
The problem is how many times he audibles out of a run...which of course we will never know. However, if they can't power the ball into the end zone by running it in, that is the sign of a vulnerable team. Maybe they can do so but just choose not to. I just think that teams need to show opposing defenses that they can run the ball in the red zone.
Well the run option seems to be working pretty well for Vick and the Falcons Id say at the moment. They currently are winning games and have a great record going into next Sunday. So it works, it doesnt make him any less of a good quarterback because of it.

Considering how much they throw, shouldnt a team have done it by now? Bottom line if the came out with the 8 db's needed to stop the throw he would run it.

When it came time to play a real tough physical defense, Manning choked. Manning is being selfish, James should have at least 10 td's right now!

It took teams 6 games last year to learn that Minnesota couldn't defend against the outside run. As time goes on, every team knows that inside the 10, look for the pass. If they go up against a great coach like Bellicheck who can scheme for any situation, they WILL be stopped and Manning WILL be embarrassed. Of course, they may be able to go back to the run without any problems, but they really haven't had that much practice of doing it since Manning audibles out of the pass everytime. Going back to the original question, though, Manning is being selfish. Its ok right now because it is working, but it has the potential to hurt the team.
Mark my words, come the playoffs. The Colts will lose to either the PAts or the Steelers. The first game of the season was a real show what a choker Manning is. He got sacked with 10 secs left in the game, and took the team out of fieldgoal range. They could have won that game, and because of that loss they will not have a bye or a homefield. The Sad part is I predicted Eagles-Colts in the Super Bowl, and now I guess I will have to retract that one
Colts offense inside the 20 Runs 45 Passes 63 Almost exactly the same outside % wise. Difference, edge averages 2.7 ypc inside redzone. Truth not selfishness, but necessary. THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE I think we can put this thread to rest BTW Mcnabb has higher percentage of his TD passes inside his opponents 20
I have no problem with Manning. It sounds to me like there are a bunch of frustrated people with EJ on their fantasy teams and they want him to get them more points. That and you are tired of seeing the guy with Manning putting up tons of points every week. That is being selfish. I'm sorry if you guys think Manning scoring 4,5, or 6 TD's a game means he sucks and is selfish... Why is there even a debate about the number one offense in the league not doing things right? This whole thread is madness!

I'm on the boat that I could care less if he is calling his own number as long as they are winning. If I'm a defensive coordinator, I know that most offenses are going to run the ball on first down from the 5. Historically, it is less risky and produces better results. If you can call a pass instead, and it works better, do it. Until the defenses are smart enough to figure out how to stop a new style of offense, I say go for it. New England is smart enough to get into Mannings head. What happened...James ran the ball more (30 times). The guy is a good, smart player now. When defenses change their approach to him, let's see how he handles it. That will make or break a lot of opinions of him.
