I'll still take Nic over Jeff Green for this team. Have a feeling Nic will come around.

Maybe he would because Rondo would know how to give him the ball.

    Over Green AND Olynyk?

The advantage of Green over Nic is Green actually attacks the basket, posts up and gets to the line. Three things Batum doesn't do.

Olynyk does nothing for me. Not sure why we are even in that three team trade you proposed. BOS and NYK by themselves is actually reasonable.

We are missing the wing that attacks the basket and gets to the line. Green is really good at that

Can you put Green on CP3 and Curry in the playoffs like you can with Nic? Can Green run the pick and roll with Rolo?

I think that advantage is hardly more valuable than Attacking the basket and getting to the line.

Vehemently disagree. Dame/Wes would get absolutely torched.

Nic's d has gotten worse this year, but the ability to switch him onto PGs for extended stretches is so undervalued.

This is where you and I disagree. Green gets to the line 5 times a game. He shoots 88% from there. This is when he's the second most focused player on Boston. I suspect that number goes up a bit.

Slashing and attacking the basket will force teams to stay on him and not cheat on Lillard or Aldridge. Also, green can get the ball in the post as well.

I'm sorry, but I would much rather have Green than Batum.

I wouldn't want Green over Batum but I would want Green and Olynyk over Batum if you sent Mylie out instead of TRob. Olynyk and Leonard are too similar in style to have both.

    So cut out New York...

    Portland trades: Batum and Leonard
    Portland receives: Green and Olynyk

That would shed 2 mil off our books too

It's been said, but I don't know that Melo waives the no-trade for POR, much less Boston.

And for all the Melo talk about being a cancer and stuff (justified, I know), he's never been "leader" material. When he's been in "talented follower" mode on Team USA, he's a stud.

So, among all the other gambles (knee, locker room, etc) would he be open to being 1B option on O?

If Melo was on the Blazers instead of Batum, the offense must drastically change. It may be for a good thing though.

I will say this... Melo on the block is almost unstoppable. And something else to think about. Melo's strong side is on the right block, while Aldridge's strong side is on the left block.

I would absolutely move Nic for Melo. When you have a legitimate opportunity at acquiring a superstar you take it and run. It's rare. The only times a superstar is deemed available is when there is a contract dispute or their team is playing awful and they are made the scapegoat. This is one of those moments. We know what a change of scenery can do to guys like Zach Randolph, Pau Gasol, James Harden, etc. Take Melo and run.

Too bad Batum is shooting so poorly. We probably could pull Melo for Batum and filler

No, thanks. I'd rather keep Wes.

I would trade for Melo. He was on a team that went to the WCF. He can win. It's just a matter of whether he would play here. Adding Melo to our team would make us a legit contender. He might be the best pure scorer in the league, or he's just slightly below Durant.
