I didn't realize that the #8 wasn't put in there. The deal would be Jeffries and the #8 for Outlaw and Sergio.
I would do it. I think, like with losing Z-Ro, we are better without Outlaw and Sergio. Travis is a decent player, but I don't think we need him. We have other players that can do what he does. Sergio, do I really need to explain? The best part though is, that would free up more time for Bayless.
Jeffries is basically a Channing Frye clone, but two years older. Same size, same game. Deal would make no sense to me if it netted us Jared Jeffries. I've taken shits with more game than him. -Pop
This could be an interesting move that might be a domino for another move. KP might not be a great deadline or summer guy, but he has proven that draft night is his home turf. I love the draft, and KP has only made it a more enjoyable experience.
If Curry can get back into shape, which reports indicate he is doing, he's MUCH more valuable than Jeffries. Jared is in the tier of bigmen that include Frye and Brian Cook, only worse.
I'm sort of beginning to warm to the idea of Curry if it mean we could guarantee getting Rubio. A three-way deal with Memphis and New York?
Can we please get a veteran with some game, please? I'm so tired of this moving up in the draft bullshit to get some unproven young talent so they can have an excuse next year when we lose in the first round. We don't need any more lottery talent. Does anyone here honestly think that getting Stephen Curry is going to suddenly make this team a Western Conference Champion? If this is our "big splash" this summer, I am instantly starting the "KP is a one-trick pony" platform. Draft day deals are fun, but I want to compete this year. Use our cap space and trade flexibility and improve this roster with proven NBA players that will help us win in the regular season AND the playoffs. -Pop
If Portland were getting Rubio out of it, perhaps they'd gamble on trading Przybilla to Memphis (their biggest need is a legitimate big man) and make Curry the backup center? Now, I'm not necessarily saying it's a great risk to take (and I'd really hope Pritchard attempts to land another serviceable center), but if it netted Rubio, it would cement a pretty remarkable core for the next decade plus: Roy/Oden/Aldridge/Rubio/Batum.
$10.5 $11.6 Two years left, a similar contract that Raef had when we took him off Boston's hands. But the big picture there was Roy, which obviously worked out. If we are to take on another bad contract KP must REALLY like a certain player in this draft.
Yeah no kidding. Look at the garbage we've traded up for in the past three drafts: Roy, Aldridge, Rudy, Batum, Bayless, and Sergio. Our teams doesn't need players like that, they need older guys.
The team was different back then. We needed guys to build around. Core guys. We have those guys now. At this point, you need to add role players. Not alpha-male high lottery picks. Plus, we need to add some veteran leadership who has playoff experience, preferably deep playoff experience. -Pop
You're crazy, man. KP is setting this team up for the John Wall sweepstakes in the 2010 Draft. We need more lottery picks! We're in some sort of contest to see how much we can move up in the draft every year to grab the next best talent.
Oh snap! I didn't think about that either. Either one of our draft picks or theirs are being used in this deal.
it would be a nice mix of euro and american players which i believe is important in today's nba...but i still have my doubts as long as stern is in power...
Exactly! Look. I want to see the Blazers win AS MANY championships as possible. I'm willing to put off winning next year or even the year after, if it means we have six of these seven Rubio, Roy*, Batum, Fernadez, Bayless, Aldridge, and Oden in their prime! * one of the six
