Look at my Post #54 again. Most of it, including that part, is my response to Andalusian, not you. Unless...Oh I see. You operate under two names. Hmmm....Yes, this explains a lot. I'll have to dispatch "Maris" to look you up.
Hello, This is reality calling. Sergio is the third best PG on the worst team in the league. That is a fact. And that is his destiny. NNB I only registered to pretend to be someone else so there would always be someone to agree with my wacky, delusional, unpopular opinions.
Actually, I ran the predictions game for most of 2 seasons and I feel like a vacation. So I'll let Gramps do the driving and I'll just look out the window. I already ran the results through my spreadsheet, but I'll never one-up him. I'll never post the results here. It's his baby. You know Boob, if only ProudBFan and jwhoops would come back and keep calling me crazy....Wait! Is that you, Noob?
Some Sactown Royalty quotes last night... "Sergio is playing like a douchio" "Sergio...." "Sergio Airball...." "Someone tell Sergio to pass the ball" "rodriguez0-5, 0-5-3pts, 3TO, 1ast" "Sergio Miss" "Sergio Miss" "Sergio Turnover" "Beno + Sergio = 3-11 shooting 11 points 1 assist 4 turnovers | Tyeke = 5-13 shooting 12 points 2 assists 1 turnover." "Sergio looked nervous, he wanted to do more but the lineups he played in didn’t present good defensive matchups or any running opportunities." Never heard that last one before.
Nope. There isn't a single player on this team, other than Bayless that I would want to see gone. Some may leave, just because we just don't have enough playing time for them, but if they choose to stay, I will love it. Also, I don't "dislike" Sergio. I think he is a talented player. I just think his ability isn't into our scheme of things.
Correct. But, Nash's TOV% of 20.8% is still lower than Sergio's 24.7% - likewise his AST% of 42.4% is a lot higher than Sergio's 35.7% - add the fact that Nash is a much better scorer with a TS% of .615 vs. Sergio's .491 - and I am really not sure why this matters. Well, the numbers clearly show that Sergio turns over more of the possessions and does not assist anywhere near as well as Nash does - and on top of that - Nash does it while scoring very very well while Sergio is a bad scorer - so... A/TO ratio means very little without possessions and overall offensive efficiency - Sergio's offensive efficiency is 109 points per 100 possessions - The Blazers as a whole have offensive efficiency of 114 points per 100 possessions - in other words, the Blazer's offense was worse when Sergio played. In comparison - Nash had an offensive efficiency of 119 points per 100 possessions where the Suns as a team had 113.6 points per 100 possessions. In other words - the Suns were better when Nash was on the floor. Well, I thought that was bad enough to show you how ineffective Sergio was for us last year. Since it did not go through your head - I expended the discussion to show you how much worse the team was when Sergio was on the floor. What is there to give? There are 2 public detailed statistics for NBA players - basketball-reference.com and 82games.com - this one clearly came from bbr - here you go: Steve Nash - http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/n/nashst01.html Sergio - http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/rodrise01.html The team stats are from there as well - but I suspect you can navigate the site by yourself. Of course they do - they are better players and the coaches are not dumb. Ugh. Again with the star treatment for Sergio the "unappreciated". If you are a good player - you will be a starter or at least get the minutes. It is as simple as that. NBA coaches are hired and retained on results. They have no agenda to keep a good player away - it just goes against logic. Sergio is not a good player - and have never been - thus he got little minutes. The Blazers were better when Sergio was not playing, thus his play time was low and he was traded. If you still do not believe me - look at another source - http://www.82games.com/0809/0809POR.HTM Of all our "regular rotation" guys - Sergio's net +/- is the worst on the team. Specifically if you look at his stats http://www.82games.com/0809/08POR2.HTM - his win% of 38.1% is criminal for a team that won as much as the Blazers did last year - and if you look at the net PER against the people he was playing against (backup point guards) - you will see that he still lost 1.1 PER to his opponent backup PG (per 48) and 17.1 PER (per 48) when playing SG. In other words - even as a backup PG going against backup PGs - he was worse than the opposition. Where the hell is the justification to make him a starter when he is worse than the other team's backups?
You misunderstood him I think. Here's how that specific link should look. You'd just need to change the () to []. (url=http://www.nba.com/video/channels/nba_tv/2009/03/03/nba_viva_espana_rudy.nba/index.html)Here's(/url) Example: Here's
Errr ... wha? We split our games with the Celtics and took the Cavs to overtime in their own house ... and neither team is what I would call a fast breaking outfit. You're going to have to do better than that. Furthermore, you don't build your team around your 8th best player, you build it around your 1st, 2nd and 3rd best players, that's been Brandon, LaMarcus and now maybe you can add Oden to that list. Sergio couldn't adapt to their style of play and couldn't play a lick of defense so he gets to try his act out somewhere else where he'll probably turn into a decent reserve, just so long as they are a fast paced team.
Mods? Rule violation here. Mixum/Boob-No-Clue has taken on a 3rd personality to increase his trolling. I assume he'll be banned as would I be if I broke the rules. Seriously, do we have to sit through another season of these clowns baiting me all year, about a player who isn't even on the team anymore? Neither ever has a positive word about any player anyway, but maybe they should be trolling the Kings board this year, not ours? You guys need to let it go, and pay attention to the Blazers. Sergio's development under Westphal will make these childish attacks of yours look awfully naive when I bump them in a couple years.
Noob isn't Boob. Boob has never called me crazy (much), just BS. Now ProudBFan and jwhoops, they made a career of calling me psycho. Noob sounds just like those 2. (Could be Bayless.) What all of them have in common is that they're all pretty humorless. Boob has a tiny bit more humor than Proud and hoops. I know because a couple of times over the years I heard air hissing out of a crack in his lips. Is Scout still around? He was the most humorous of my opponents, although he could go into apoplexy defending the Iraqi invasion. When I'd outargue him, then he'd feel fuzzy and funny for a while in retreat before getting red in the face again.
Thankfully, someone who knows far more than any of you, and the only man whose opinion matters now, is happy as a clam to have been gifted such a talent. And smart enough to know you don't coach PG's with a leash and a whip: Rodriguez has made a good first impression on coach Paul Westphal, The Oregonian reports. "I think he is doing a real nice job," Westphal said. "He doesn't hesitate to penetrate, and he has a real flair for making passes that other people don't see. He's not afraid to make a mistake, which I think you need to have as a point guard. I'm real happy he is on our team."
I've never been able to figure out just how happy a clam really is -- I mean it can't be that great; you get hammered by the tides, eaten by otters and rabid clam diggers and the best you can hope for is that you ingest some sand and maybe create a pearl that some diver comes along and kills you for. Sweet.
That's one of the more obvious things I've read recently. We can all agree on that, what a feel good story! All's well that ends well.
