I think they recall mayors, but I will reiterate my point here wasn't that Adams had a relationship with a young man, but rather that he betrayed public trust by consistently changing his story. Nice to see Randy Leonard and the Adams' communication director find their truth compass and act on it.
I think the important question is who do we have that's better to run the city. Certainly Adams is imperfect. But so is every other potential mayor. Before we throw the bum out, shouldn't we discuss who we are going to replace him with? The cure might be worse than the disease. barfo

I don't think there is a better option . . . and I say that as a compliment to Adams. But after reading the local stories about this whole saga, I unfortuately think that Adams can not slip out of this one (excuse the pun). He has potential to be a great mayor (hard working, intelligent, assertive). And if somehow the investigation leads to no criminal charges brought, then he might just make it through all this. But making out with a seventeen year old boy . . . there are some prosecutors who could find that criminal.
There are. But jaywalking is illegal too. If Potter jaywalked, should he have been impeached? I am not convinced that this is a crime that needs punishment. 17 year olds have sex. They like sex. They seek sex. Sex sex sex. If I remember correctly from my days as a 17 year old, sex is pretty much the major focus of life at that age. 42 year olds have sex too. They like sex. They seek sex. Sex sex sex. If I remember correctly from my days as a 42 year old, a little illicit sex is still pretty hard to resist. As far as I can see, none of that has anything to do with governing. We aren't talking jaywalking here. The crime mentioned in the paper is Sex Abuse III, apparently a crime that if convicted of, makes Adams a registered sex offender. That wouldn't look good on the mayor's resume. The question is whether kissing constitues the touching of an intimate part, is Beau's tounge an intimate part of his body. . . it's in the hands of the AG''s offie.
Really . . . you would be OK with a mayor who has committed a sex crime and is a registered sex offender. I don't want that for Ptd. I am jumping the gun . . . the AG's office is only investigating at this stage. But if charges are brought, I don't think Adams can survive that.
It depends if I thought it was an actual sex crime, or merely technically a sex crime. From everything I've heard so far, this is closer to the technical than the actual. But of course I don't have all the facts (and I really hope I never do). barfo
Randy Leonard did. And has for a long time. Then he finally got fed up with being lied to repeatedly. Hearing one thing from Adams himself and reading another in the paper the next day. Now he doesn't trust Adams. And neither do I.
Well this is where our ideas part. I think it would be terrible for the state of Oregon to have a convicted and registered sex offender as a mayor (if that is what happens). He wouldn't even be allowed to have a myspace account . . .
It would certainly be bad press, if that's what you mean. But I'd bet that if he was actually convicted he'd resign or get removed. Is that a requirement for mayors these days? barfo
