Shannon Brown Not a needle-mover but a nice guy to play off the bench. Has a player option for 3.5 Mil next year. He may or may not take that now.
He would be foolish to take it. This is a scenario where he can easily find a 3.5 mil multi-year contract on a different team that actually needs him. Not saying Portland should, but he definitely should.
I wonder what made him fall out of favor? He isn't a star of course but that team is kind of crappy. He seems better than most that they trot out.
I think it's just because Phoenix has way too many guards. I also think they want Brown to opt out (conspiracy I know); so they can get him off their books. I suspect Phoenix has some big plans this summer. They need all the space they can get, IMO.
Because we've watched over half a season with Nolan Smith and Ronnie Price trying to play backup PG. It's an important position, especially with Lillard's ability to play some SG. If we can't find a decent backup SG, we can play a 3 guard rotation with Damian/Maynor/Matthews. The guy I want us to go after is Corey Brewer. Good defender, takes it to the paint, high energy, runs the fast break.
