    If it's a coin flip it's a coin flip. BPA wouldn't apply.

I expect they'll go with BPA who fits the prototype of player they've been adding. That guy isn't a ball hog needing clear outs to score. They're a physical plus at their position and at the very least project to be a decent defender. Their offense fits in team play and they're all about winning. Specific skills they'll likely prioritize are perimeter shooting & D

I don't want them to draft Richardson. But, if you're going to draft an undersized SG, it's more likely to work if he's next to a big PG. I think Deni fits that mold, but they shouldn't draft Richardson on the premise of already having Deni.

I mean "headcase" to me impacts the player they project to be - so then you can still draft someone else even if they have lower upside with BPA. BPA isn't always highest upside. A player having a higher floor can be better.

If players have different strengths, are in the same tier, and projections are very similar then one isn't clearly "BPA" over the other. So then I'm fine with taking a positional fit or style fit or culture fit or whatever.

My "BPA" is in response to ultimatums from posters about not drafting player x because of attribute Y - in this example height. If a player is clearly better than another prospect I want to draft the BPA.

What has Sharpe done to show he is the future ?

Do not get me wrong I like Sharpe and I believe he could be a star one day BUT up until this point he has maybe 10 to 15 games a year where your like - -Damn he could be great then either by his own play or Billups benching him when it counts he kind of disappears at times. I am not saying he should be traded but not going to lie he is not untouchable and i would trade him for a player more consistent even if it means he turn into a star after being traded. I am not going to fall into the Jermaine O'Neal trap where fans are scared he might become a star.

Deni is not a PG. He may become an efficient enough ball handler to be a solid secondary facilitator, but he really needs to reduce his turnover rate

I believe that Sharpe is our future
Teach him well and let him lead the way
Show him all the beauty he possesses inside
Give him a sense of pride to make it easier
Let Shaedon's laughter remind us how we used to be

I agree that he's not a PG, but he does bring the ball up the court and initiate the offense quite a bit. Thus, taking the responsibilities of a true PG off the hands of a player like Richardson. It's the same reason I always felt that the way to get Ant's best was to pair him with a PG big enough to match up with a SG rather than having to see Ant try to defend some of the bigger SG's in the league.

If you just look at his basic stats and compare them to SGA or Haliburton you see he is close but not there on assists due to position. SGA has him on rebounds as well.
I do see your point here though some of this might be due to situational tanking and such.

If the Blazers truly decide to play this year and go after as many wins as possible I'm hoping to see a big jump in his overall game.

Fair question. What he's shown is outstanding raw athleticism and good form on his jumper. In theory those traits should allow him to be a #1 scoring option and an above average end of the clock option who can separate for a good look at will. In reality his handle still needs work and better defenders mess with him/push him off his spots. I think that hurts his overall confidence which is why he looks passive at times & is why his good looking jumper hasn't been automatic by any means. Dude has had several injury layoffs in his 3 seasons so a healthy offseason this year hopefully allows him to ramp up his skills and confidence and the 4th year is a big level up. The tools are there he just needs to put it all together. On the downside of this forecast, some guys with perfect form on their J just don't have the innate feel to be a great shooter no matter how much work they put in... we shall see. Dude just turned 22 over last weekend and it's not unusual for guys who've gone on to be dominant players to take off after that age.

I just wonder how much of that “Passive” nature is due to the team obviously not trying to win games for most of his career.
That strikes the “Losing Culture” drum and debate. If he was playing elsewhere would his stats be different?

Just my opinion but players pretty much always try to win... always. Management may hold out some of their best to tank, but those left on the floor are doing their best. Shaedon's skills (specifically his handle and J) haven't been good enough to lead them to wins & that wouldn't have been any different with another uni on.

I think that Sharpe & Simons are a terrible fit for Sharpe

it's a small sample size but in the 5 games without Simons at the end of the season (before Sharpe got shut down a a way-too-late-tank), Sharpe averaged 29 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. And he looked aggressive and in control

Sharpe's biggest issue, in my view, is shot selection. His 3 point attempt rate was twice what it should have been. His conversion rate at the rim was 75.5% (nearly elite for a SG); in the 3-10' zone it was 42%; in the 10-16' zone it was 47%. But it was only 31% from three yet he took 43% of his shots from behind the arc. He needs more discipline in his shot selection. Maybe that's code for he needs a different coach

Ant has been bad for both Sharpe and Scoot. Time to move on and give runway to our guys.
