Stats arent relevent at all, can he play a man defense? no. Man D is what makes a great team. I just want to take a side note here and mention my bulls. People say Gordon is a terrible defender, which he's not. He's actually very solid in a man d, espically agaist PGs and he was a huge part of why we were the number one team agaist field goals. I'll take a player who doesnt get any stats and shutsdown a team(Bruce Bowen) then a guy who just puts up stats.</div>hahah, i can't believe you call Rudy Gay a poor defender and Ben Gordon a good one. :HAHAHA:

In Fact Ben Gordon started on the best defending team agaist perimeter players. I think that says something, dont you think?

I think you are both wrong.Rudy Gay isn't a poor defender, from what I've seen, he is a mediocre defender. In other words, he can get the job done, but he gambles too much.Ben Gordon isn't a great defender, and remember, he does play with Kirk Hinrich, a very good defender. THat is a major reason for that statistic. However, I do think Gordon is a solid defender, better than Rudy Gay at the least

I liked this trade for Houston. They wern't looking for guys that would help them down the road, they needed someone who could defend, knock down the three, and be a consistent third scoring option next to Yao and Tracy. They got all these things in Shane Battier, and the loss of Stro was no bid deal considering he made such little impact this season in Houston.

I haven't read this thread...but yet again this trade shows why JVG is the problem for Houston. They have athletes who can run, and have the defenders and such already. They NEEDED another PF/big man who can make an impact on defense AND offense....instead they trade a solid player in Swift, a great PF prospect in Rudy Gay....and get another SF/guard.God dammit get JVG out of there.

My god. How they could such a potential talent there. Gay is a freakish athlete, he can shoot, drive, play defense, steal, he has a long wing span, he is powerful and quick, and can play both SG and SF. I know Battier is also a do everything guy, but who are they gonna play at PF now as well with Swift gone? And you cant trade such a talent like that for a role player. Yikes! Someone's going to get the boot!I commend Jerry West for getting this deal though. Great stuff, NBA logo dude!
