No one is going to offer Wemby for Shaedon straight up and I have a hard time with it anyway just because of the way people of Wemby's size have fared in the league in the past and what Shaedon has shown he's already capable of in the league. That being said if another team made that offer, Wemby for Shae, straight up, I would have to take it but no one else in this draft class and I wouldn't want to give the team offering Wemby, much more than Shaedon.
This year’s class? No one. I’m taking him over Banchero right now. Banchero is a nice player but he has also be inefficient. This upcoming class? I’m only taking Wemby over Sharpe. I think we’re going to be disappointed if we draft a rookie outside of Wemby/Scoot/Miller and expect them to replicate a rookie year like Sharpe has.
maybe...but on paper Jarace Walker & Taylor Hendricks look pretty intriguing. So do the Thompson twins (although they do give off Corey Brewer vibes)
Wiz: “… maybe...but on paper Jarace Walker & Taylor Hendricks look pretty intriguing. So do the Thompson twins (although they do give off Corey Brewer vibes)” That was pretty ruthless. Impressive. And I do agree — that seeing him this season — if Sharpe was in this draft, only Wemby goes ahead of him.
Assuming Pablo was always in last year's draft, yeah it's definitely possible. I'd imagine his Kentucky highlight reel would have been pretty sick. People are saying similar things about GG Jackson, by the way, who re-classified to come out this year instead of next year.
IIRC Calipari said before the draft that if Shaedon played one year for Kentucky he'd be the number 1 draft pick.
I appreciate the Jarace-Jabari comparison. I think in terms of player archetypes that's a really solid match. However, having watched a fair amount of Jarace over the year, I want to make note for those that simply think Jabari=Jarace that there are a couple of really key differences that separate Jarace as a top-five pick and Jabari as an (albeit underrated) second rounder. Jarace has far superior footspeed to Jabari, making him much more versatile defender. While not an elite-level athlete, Jarace is bouncier and can play more vertically. Jarace has far more upside as a ball-in-his-hands playmaker for himself and others. That said, in terms of the type of player Jarace is Jabari is a fitting comparison.
Not many people were familiar with Wemby at that point, though. You'd think Calipari would have been, but you never know with that guy.
I have had a lot of faith in what Shaedon can become because of Calipari. He has a track record of recruiting NBA level talent whether they win at Kentucky or not.
GG has some very nice footwork, fundamentals, and a solid shot, but I don't see any blow-by ability from him. NBA players will be able to jam up on him and take away much of his game. He is great being able to create shots in college, but I'm not positive that translated to the NBA nearly as effectively.
Yeah his donors were pissed he advised Shae not to play. But it's important for him to be known for wanting what's best for his players Careers.
GG may have been able to create shots, but he wasn't effective at making them. Id stay far away from him
