<div class="quote_poster">Quoting franchise3:</div><div class="quote_post">Losing Dampier would be important, but gaining Wallace is even more important. All Dampier has done to deserve all the hype is because he's having a double-double season, the first in his career. You bandwagoners never look at his previous seasons. You think he's good only because he's finally averaging 12 ppg?

Wallace, on the other hand, is a proven superstar and one of the more consistent players in the Pacific. He will give the Warriors a much more powerful offensive threat than Dampier ever did. When Troy Murphy, who averaged last season virtually the same stats as Dampier this season, returns, the Warriors won't be losing much production. Instead, they get a steady 19 ppg and 8 rpg former all-star.

Now what would you rather take? Go figure.</div>

I'm with you on this one. You know why Dampier is getting all those rebounds? It's because Murphy and Foyle are both injured. Murphy used to be their double double guy. Foyle used to grab around 6 boards last season. Sheed? He's a CAREER 16-7 guy. DOn't get me wrong. I'm not a fan of Sheed and I definitely love what Dampier's doing right now. But believe me, both will be asking for huge salaries so who do I give it to? An all-star guy or a guy having 1 great season (reasons cited above)?

Exactly. Rasheed draws a lot of fans and will definitely improve jersey sales. I have his Portland jersey, for one. This trade will at least help the Warriors financially, something a team trying to save money would love. If Wallace shows really well and turns into a fan favorite with the Warriors, I wouldn't be surprised if he stays beyond this season.

The reason no one has heard of Damp is because he has been a stiff until this year. This is his contract year so of course he is playing big again like he did last contract year and then sit on his a$$. His excuse is that he has NVE.

Just for the record, I'll explain how Dampier has changed their season. He has single handedly down the stretch of games carried the Warriors on his back. He may avg 12, but night in and night out lately he's consistently getting 15-20 boards. He is key to this Warrior team, and losing him would be big. I know I posted in thw Warrior forum the trade is out the door now, but on second thought, I wouldn't be suprised if the Warriors chased the Hawks down and try to acquire Sheed from them.

Rebounding does not mean anything. 2 years ago it was Fortson who was averaging a double double. Then last year it was Murphy. With Fortson gone and Murphy injured it is Damp taking up some slack. But Damp has not carried this team down the stretch. How many Warriors games have you watched?

Perhaps this thread be closed since Sheed is in Atlanta now?

I think you guys forgot Dampier can spike the ball like Ben Wallace and pound you in the inside and take down the rack like Shaq can. Sure he may be overrated, but based on what I've seen this past season. He definately has potential. He can guard big men in the post. Don't think sheed can do that. The guy consistently grabs 15-20 boards a night all season. Only problem I have with Damp are his hands that are dipped in grease or something. The ball slips out of hands all the time before he can serve up a facial. We'll see what happens next season. I hope he stays with the Warriors though. Foyle's great but he is no Damp. He lacks the size.

This was a discussion BEFORE the trade deadline... and BEFORE Wallace got traded to Atlanta and then to Detroit.. Might want to check the post dates first.
