You guys in PDX got to know Colin when he was there. Was he like that then? I used to like him in the mid 2000's. His show was comical, filled with goofy impressions, and sports talk. Then he hit paydirt, and his takes got all "lick the big boys balls". Not just today, on most of his takes now.

It's the difference between the police and military. Portland writers internally fight their own players over moral/religious issues (especially during the Whitsitt era), while Los Angeles writers strategically attack other teams only to gain power.

 

If you have to trade him (they don’t) why not go after a team like Atlanta get Tre Young and 2-3 1sts maybe get taurean Prince too. I’d take that over the Laker package.

 

Um yeah there is... how is it not realistic to think a team of Ball, Simons, Ingram, Collins, and Nurk can’t win a title in 5 years?? They are all under 23 and still developing? And seriously you would be happy watching a 7-10 seed the next 3 years then either letting Dame walk for nothing or paying him 40+ mil at 31 years old?? Are you serious???

Just to be clear, my 1st choice is to keep Dame and trade for Kawai, or Love and give it a shot... but if Neil can’t make it happen then it’s time to move on now at peek value and get as many assets as possible

 

Lack of money is my biggest issue. But with those winning lottery numbers I will be just fine, and you and I can enjoy a couple of pops together.

 

Ball, Simons, Ingram, Collins, Nurk can win a title in 5 years? If so, then I think there's more reason to stick with what we got currently and tweak. Lillard is better than Ball by far, you swap out CJ for an Ingram level SF, and that teams better than what you just proposed.

That's a back-end lottery team for the next 5 years. So basically, purgatory without competitiveness.

 

I guess you’re entitled to an opinion just as much as any of us, I see where you’re coming from at least to an extent. I wouldn’t mind trading CJ for young players and maybe a solid wing player. I think its hard for me to think trading the closest thing to a superstar the Blazers have had in decades some how leads to them being better.
One thing to Remember is GS will own the NBA next year but after that Cousins, Green and Thompson will all have to make decisions about staying or going and the money situation will mean they can’t keep them all (GS will not have Cousins’ bird rights).

 

You already have 3 of those 5 on the team. And Dame is better than Ball. So why not just keep Dame, Simons, Collins and Nurk and find a SF? You can always trade him later. Ingram would be great next to Dame, just not Ball. Ingram played his best last year when he actually ran the offense while Ball was hurt.

The best bet is to see how Simons and or Trent progress at SG, and if and when they do, then you trade CJ for a quality SF..... if you can't find one by then without trading him.

 

It'd be nice to try to land Klay somehow. If we had space and a good team (Lillard + Butler?) then I feel like we could have a chance. Might be worth trying to get Love too.
