Gordon wanted nothing to do with New Orleans. A few weeks after that trade he wanted out asap. Or as Woj put it, "desperate to get out of Louisiana"

If we failed on gordon and every other big free agent, would you trade claver and ewill for kevin martin? Martin has one yr left, so it could be a try out and maintains flexibility for us next offseason

I'd rather give Matthews and Claver than give up Elliot. He's a guy I want backing up our starting SG. I like Martin and he can provide high scoring with efficient shooting.

I would go after Gordon#1 but OJ would be a good target. He is lost in Memphis behind Zbo, Rudy and Gasol. He would add some scoring to our back court. Also, he would come pretty cheap vs. Gordon.

Yes, but if we cant get one why not martin for a year? Keeps us flexible to try again next year for an all star sg. Someone might even do a sign and trade for martin back

Why not Martin for a single year? Well off-hand I'd say it's because there isn't a snowball's chance in hell Kevin Martin signs a one year contract with this team nor any others.

name someone then. I don't like going into a situation of flexibility down the line if there is no real target. The "imaginary cap space" scenario.

He's not a free agent. He has one year left on his deal. He is a guy who can get his own offense and take some weight off Lillard. Monta Ellis is another guy I think could be had. If the cost is Claver, Matthews, change then I say go for it!

Well my bad, with free agency opening soon I figured he must be available on the list. As for trading for a one year rental? Sure, why the hell not

MM the guy can ball. I admit I was not sold on him until I watched in person several times. Injuries are always a concern, but he has not had any significant ones. The dude is a difference maker. Maybe not ideal but pretty damn close.

For a moment, I read that as "until I watched him in prison several times."

JailBlazer era still affects me, I suppose...

Gordon is one hell of a player. Fast, explosive and a damn good shooter but man has he missed a lot of games. I'm really concerned about his health and lots of rumors that NO will match even a Max deal for him. So might as well write him off unless we do a S&T with Batum at 11m for Gordon at 16m and that i'm not a fan of at all.

Please, not Kevin Martin. We'd be hoping for Jamal Crawford back.

exactly! no one-year bandaids are wanted. If we don't get guys that fit and we "really" want for the next 3-4 years we are much better off going with what we have and developing guys like Ewill and the new guy barton and see what we really have with them.

Got to throw an overpaid deal at Gordon, 12-14 mil, and hope he's not matched.

If that fails, I'd make a run at Mayo.

Well if the plan is to go back to the lottery one more time next year then Martin could help just as much as Crawful.

I would've agreed with you up until Gordon actually deigned to play for N'Awlins last year. He was pretty damn amazing. He turned an abysmal team into mediocre just like that. I always thought he was just a runty gunner, but he's much more well-rounded, and because he's so stocky, he can get away with being runty.
