<div class="quote_poster">Quoting allnet:</div><div class="quote_post">I think Sterling proved this off-season he is far from cheap....This year is the only real time he needed to spend big money...And he is in talks with two good FA's now </div>That couldn't be further from the truth. Just as there is a limit to how much owners can spend a year there is also a minimum to how much they have to spend. Sterling only resigned those players so he could reach the minimum. Sterling's Clippers are currently just about a million over this minimum. He is still cheap!
No he needed to re-sign those players as they are good young players and possible stars...Brand is already one..any owner that spends 124 million on two players should get credit for that....As he could easily of not matched those big fat contracts...If he was indeed really cheap...What other players should he of spend big bucks on? which players would of been worth it in the past?

If getting over the minimum for the start of the season was all that matterered he could of signed several scrubs to fil out the roster..but he didn't.and I bet that wasn't on his mind when he signed Brand and Maggette...He spend a huge 124 million on two players....And likely would of matched Odom's 67 million contract if LO hadn't of made those comments about the franchise....Oh and I'm not making any excuses here...all basic facts..
I don't understand why you are preciving my post is an attack on Canada. I am just saying that most players do NOT want to play in Canada, and past Free Agents have shown no interest what so ever of playing in Canada, prove me wrong on this. Also I hear they take 50% of your paycheck for taxes, uhhh, who wants that? This isnt an attack on Canada, I bet there are several Canadian citizens that feel that they would never moved to the US, maybe because we dont give free health services or something. But the US is the biggest country/power in the world and techincally Canada needs us more than we need them. But thats not the point. The point is PLAYERS DONT WANT TO LEAVE THE UNITED STATS TO PLAY A NATIONAL SPORT. Its a fact, and I do not blame them.
vancouver got screwed. the fans were NOT the big problem in vancouver...it was managment. first of all, the asian community was NEVER catered towards and they dominate the population in vancouver. the marketing division of the franchise were obviously a bunch of idiots who never lived in vancouver, and all their marketing campaings were a joke. secondly...whoever decided on teal, brown and white for uni's needed to be shot. the grizz had the ugliest uni's in the L. who wants to play ball while lookin like a retard? Stu jackson was one of the worst gm's in league history, and made abismal descisions. steve francis for michael dickerson and othella harrington? are you kidding me? and thats the draft choices aside. players think canada and think cold. most of them are too ignorant to realize that vancouver has a nicer climate then plenty of places in the states like boston, new york, minisota, chicago, cleveland...etc. vancouver COULD host a successfull franchise, if they didnt have a bunch of morons working in managment
You're absolutely right DJ_premium. Vancouver is one of the nicest cities I've been, too. It's very similar to the Bay Area and there is definately a strong sports presence in the area. The management made a lot of terrible decisions with the franchise and the fans stopped coming to games and supporting the team. If a Canadian city is considered for another franchise, Vancouver should definately be in the top 3 on the list.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting shapecity:</div><div class="quote_post"> The management made a lot of terrible decisions with the franchise and the fans stopped coming to games and supporting the team. .</div> not me...i still went to TONS of games. supported the grizz as best i could if vancouver got a team, named the team the vancouver dragons, had gold, dark green, black and red as colors and made a trade for yao...they would be one of the top attendance teams in the league. whether the trade for yao could happen or not isnt the point, im just saying that vancouver could host a sucessful franchise, if they had quality managment
You're right dj_premium_plus, the old Grizz Colours were UGLY! Also I never got a sense that there was any effort made to make that franchise part of the community. It's a shame because I'd like to see Basketball Canada grow and flourish and Vancouver is a perfect place for that to happen. The dragons huh? They could have a killer mascot. I'm not sure how it would be to have large angry reptiles representing Canada's teams. I'm sure it would be fine. I still think that the Montreal Clippers is the way to go though. That's just my opinion and I might be wrong.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Plushlux:</div><div class="quote_post">Maybe now that weed has been decriminalized more NBA player will want to play in Canada...</div> I doubt that, people want to be here in the US by their friends and family. Toronto is the only place it would work in my opinion.
I think Toronto is the only city in Canada where basketball will work because Canada is a hockey country. I think they need to bring a team here to Vegas possilby the clippers
Vegas.....no, be satisfied with the casinoes.....um...Canada getting another team would Toronto winning more games and becoming the successful team they once were....
the city of calgary is really growing, they could provide fans, also vancouver is a great spot if they could get a decent team but i dont think theyll go to vancouver again, a team might also do well in edmonton
The Raptors are too popular for another team in Canada. They are basically a team of Canada, not of Toronto.
30 Teams are enough. If we're talking about relocating, Edmonton would be a good choice to relocate. A team like the Clippers relocating would be a good fit for Edmonton considering the Lakers own LA as far as Basketball is concern.
i hear the nba is in train to had a franchise in mexico if canada get another i think edmonton or calgary
I don't think so because Vancouver pretty much didn't embrace basketball so why give them another team. Canada is a hockey country and they should stay that way. Toronto is a great city but even when I went there and seen 2 Raps games the fans are different and it seems like they a whole mopre into it in the states. So what in the world would they want another bball team for.

Some1 said that the raps are canadas team not jus torontos and thats true so canadas not gonna get another team for a loonnnggg time.. :thumbsdow but thats ok toO
i think the best will be put a franchise in a basketball country neigbhor of usa like puerto rico, mexico can be
