At what levels? How many examples? The one girl that has already been discussed all she got was a walk on offer to a small college. I bet the girls who finished 2nd and 3rd in that event got better scholarship offers than transgendered girl did. Girls aren't losing scholarships over this, colleges aren't actively and exclusively recruiting them.

Biological women successfully compete against men all the time, including high school wrestling in the state of Oregon.

We don't want the feds telling us how to run our schools, but you guys want the feds to tell us how to run our school sports?

Big evil chicks with dicks want to hurt our daughters! And then rape their little brothers and sisters in public bathrooms. My god, this is a nightmare! NIGHTMARE!

There are sports such as gymnastics and ice skating where biological girls would have a completive advantage over transgendered athletes.

Again, is this really a problem? Do we need to really legislate local, state, college and professional sports over a bunch of what ifs and fear?

How many women's high school track and field state champions in Oregon in the last 10 years were transgendered females? How many competitors?

I'm honestly just seeing a lot of half baked fear mongering and a bunch of what ifs.

    ...

If we really care about girls and sports why haven't we addressed the growing medical problems from crumb rubber or concussion problems in sports like girls soccer?

IMO, most of these arguments against transgendered athletes aren't really about fairness for girls but about the inkiness of being transgendered.

Just so I'm clear....... the women are the white men in this scenario?

You're going to pick a demographic that has historically been shitted on for hundreds, if not thousands of years and is still fighting for equality, and compare it to a bunch of white men?

Black athletes deserved to be able to compete on the highest level, regardless of what color their skin was. But this isn't about competing at the highest level. This about either proving a political point, OR more likely, it's about being able to dominate because they're still biologically men for all intents and purposes.

So it has to be either or?

    Either women or either transgendered?

Okay, so girls can participate in high school boys wrestling but transgendered can't.

    Got it!

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I have to say, I'm a little sus of the sudden outpouring of "won't someone please think of women's rights?" from certain people, people who generally I wouldn't say care much about those sorts of things. I'm not sure this sudden feminist turn is all that genuine--seems more like a position taken that seems like a convenient bludgeon to people who don't understand feminism or trans rights in the first place and think one is counter to the other.

You’re gonna have to point me to all the examples of me being a misogynist.

Seriously, what would you tell your daughter who just took third in a race behind two trans women that had a massive physical advantage over her? That life is unfair? That this is a win for trans rights? That her future is less important than that of a trans person?

That she should run faster. Or that 3rd is very good. Would see if she ran a personal best, and self compete. That sports isn't everything?

"Don't go to the bathroom with them."

"I know you can beat them in Home Ec."

"Wow, you were amazing out there! So proud of you. You keep working has hard as you have been and you're only going to get faster. Your mother and I love you so much."

? No, the run faster is a joke. In no ways relates to the bootstrap thing though.

Actually, my opinion is that there shouldn't be a law preventing competing at all.

Just protections for leagues who bar people who have unfair advantages from competing in the lower divisions.

Here is my stance - either agree or disagree, this is how I feel.

I'm 100% in favor of giving people the freedom to be who they want to be. If they want to self identify as a women, good for them. If they want to go through transitional surgery, awesome. Go for it. It doesn't impact me at all.

But once you start branching out into areas where you're directly impacting other people, and potentially creating unfair advantages that impact other people, then it's no longer about you and it is now about us as a society. We have put into place all these mechanisms to try to give women a fair chance.

If it is analyzed and it is determined that a trans woman has no advantage over biological females, then sweet. Go on ahead. But if we continually see trans women mop the floor with biological women in athletics, then it needs to be addressed.

The number of trans people is on the rise, so this issue will only become more and more visible in the public eye.

I never said you were a misogynist. I said you (and another person in the thread) don't strike me as particularly passionate about feminism...until this one moment where you believe you can use it as cudgel.

An example of you not seeming to take feminism particularly seriously?

So you believe that if trans women were allowed to participate in women's sports, we would see this "continually?"
