I provided clear responses from Owens as to how she was taken out of context, coupled with her views on Hitler. Why do you continue to disregard this?
There has been a slow and consistent whitewashing of history in the US. That's normal, the winner does write the history. Now just because it's normal doesn't mean it's right. I know that there are some current and former members of the forum who believe that the Civil War was about States Rights and had absolutely nothing to do with slavery. And ending slavery was part of changing a real war by the north into an economic war against our southern states. Instead of the north buying the slaves freedoms we just forced the poor southern states to give them away. Now you can google and find tons of articles and people who believe this. But it doesn't mean it's right. Does correcting this interpretation of history mean we're suddenly favoring black people and making whites look bad or are we really just trying to teach kids what really happened?
Here's a critical race debate...how the hell do white congress members and senators from the republican party explain wearing a yellow star of David the Nazi's passed around in WWII to protest a public safety mask mandate? Should our children be exposed to this behavior or is it like white people wearing blackface as entertainers?
Taiwan under Lee Tung Huei...the first Taiwanese president not from Chiang Kai Shek's mainland Chinese KMT army made schools write corrected history books after the old ones had whitewashed the slaughter of aboriginal leaders of 18 tribes and the leaders of the Taiwanese locals who'd been there hundreds of years...then stole their land and made them second class citizens....that's been corrected...Taiwanese children now know what really happened .....nobody said...oh how dare they insult the great General Chiang! The KMT enlisted several local politcians with bribes to look inclusive but they were all on the take.
You mean like with finger puppets? A Dr Suess special? It's the Civil War, lol. Not sure how you want to deliver that.
I figured you'd ask tlong first what he means, but I see he responded. Intent is a big factor in all of that.
As crandc already explained multiple times it is something taught in law school which tells me what's the big deal? But if it is what I think it is and that's just the telling of our true history regarding the evils of slavery and it's consequences then yes, history should be taught.
Worse. They are comparing efforts to stop spread of a virus to mass murder. They are ridiculing the Holocaust. White supremacists claiming to be victims.
The discourse is hearty. I found this to be an informative article. The point being that, indeed, CRT is being discussed as it relates to K-12 education and simply confined to higher education and legal circles. https://www.theday.com/article/20210619/NWS01/210619347
