Some people are naturally optimistic. Some people are naturally pessimistic. Some people are somewhere in between. That doesn't make any of those people necessarily better than the other. But I have never heard a pessimistic person accuse an optimistic person of not being a real fan. Not once. They might get frustrated at the person for being a homer, but they would never accuse them of not being a "real" fan. And to me, that's the difference. And I mentioned this to you in another post. That's called gatekeeping.

Example - you're not a REAL fan unless you (insert thing here)

You're not a REAL fan of the Beatles unless you agree that Yellow Submarine was their best song.

The ones freaking out (like myself) are the optimistic ones because we keep expecting something different from this franchise, only to get burned year after year. As I said before, at times like these I wish I could get off this crazy train, but too late now.

Curious. How many coaches with 3 or more years have a better than .500 record?

And I pose the question: What's the best those coaches did in the playoffs? A two-parter!

Do you know that if we get swept that will be 10 consecutive playoff losses for Stotts? That is not good enough.

I have seen several posts from the pessimistic group claim they are realists and accuse an optimistic fan of not being a real fan. Maybe you just block them out.

Hmmm I have never seen the usual suspects accuse them of not being real fans. Just call them homers and mock their blind optimism.

I have no idea what you mean by usual suspects, but you not seeing any doesn't mean they don't exist.

I'm guessing you also still believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and Big Foot? :devilwink:

You are misunderstanding me. I've explained it so many times it's getting tiresome.

This is simple to me. If Terry Stotts worked at my bodyshop and kept doing stupid shit and fucking up cars left and right he'd be fired. Being nice and everyone's favorite buddy wouldn't stop it.

I had a boss ask me about a woman who was our parts person. She is literally the meanest woman I've ever met. He asked if she should be fired and I said "no fucking way, she is excellent at her job"

Results are what matters to me. If you think Stotts is doing a great job then by all means vote to keep him. If you think he should stay because Damian loves him then no.

Imagin Lillard at the end of next season:

Media: Damian, how do you feel about your first MVP award?
Lillard: Props to our new coach. Coach Stotts was like father to me and I love him, but new coach took me to new places, ve put me and the team on the next level. We got this toughness and purpose in us now. I just love his work. i love like we going forward.

Dame is not mediocre. He will be 4th on most MVP ballots and will be All NBA First Team. This series is the only playoff series two First Team players are in so something has to give. This team is not mediocre. We won 49 games and got 3 seed. The Clippers are mediocre. The Bucks are mediocre. Our coach is not mediocre. Stotts will receive COTY votes. Two losses to the Pelicans the last few days doesn't erase all of this. Our team is headed in the right direction. 8 win improvement this year. This series isn't over. If we do lose the series, we learn from it and try to improve team. Doesn't mean we have to trade all our players. We are the youngest team in the playoffs. Be patient. We're not some over the hill joke of a team. We're on the rise.
