Sounds like something Kingspeed would say.

Allen Crabbe got that contract in a season when all teams received additional $20M to their salary cap in one go, and most of them did not have their cap packed with high deals prior to the free agency anyway as previous max deals were much, much lower.

Nurkic will be looking for offers in a market where nearly all teams have their cap bloated with average players earning beyond $15M and sometimes even $20M.

It's not even remotely the same situation. There will be about 6 teams with max space available and I can't see any of them offering that to Nurkic.

Someone like Tyreke Evans would have got $15M per year minimum in 2016. He got $3.3M in 2017.

and no shows like last night is why he's not close to a max player, 12-15 mil per AT BEST and his inconsistent play this year makes me wonder if I really want to keep him

Don't give Stotts anymore ideas. You know how he LOVES the small lineup.

Should have traded him when we had the chance. Just another case where the Blazers front office doesn't have the balls to make such a move. Can't say I'm surprised.

We should re-sign him. It's not like we have better options.

By the end of a four year deal, we'll know if he's legit or if he's a stopgap for an emergent Collins, or neither.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Nurkic has played his way out of a large deal, so let him establish his value in the RFA market and as long as a team like the Nets doesn't offer him a dumb contract, match. I don't expect him to be a lot more than a strong defensive/poor offensive center, but even that is worth single-digit millions per year. And if he actually does develop a passable offensive game, so much the better.

I hope that Collins became a starter in this league. One of my guys (Bender) was 4th pick 2 years ago. Also PF who wasn't ready for the NBA. He's in his 2nd NBA year, and still the main thing he does is shooting 3s. I'm afraid Zach would be the same, but let's hope.

good news is nobody has cap space this offseason, and the teams that do (lakers, OKC, etc.) are going after the big fish namely Paul George and Lebron James. It is highly unlikely that anyone makes him an offer like the poison pill that BKN offered Crabbe.
