Oh, I'm fine with both, just that "I saw this awesome (whatever) the other day!" stuff could be done in the main OT forum, and that could be an argument to not create a new sub OT area.
Naw. The internet is full of forums that are brand (Ford, Chevy Nissan etc,) specific and even model specific with enthusiasts that know what they are talking about.
make it a Wheels forum (but not for Wheeler) then we can talk cars and pickups and RV's and potholes and scenic highways and Sly can get all excited about the tires he has marked
I saw a machine gun metal Tesla Model X today that had black dubs and limo tint. It looked pretty freakin' awesome.
I rented an Audi Q5 last weekend. I can see why Audi drivers drive like assholes. That shit handles so well.
I voted no but I'd like to change my vote to yes. I know next to nothing about cars. Where should I take my 2015 Toyota Yaris for maintenance? Is a Toyota dealership my best bet? I've only owned it two years but in that time I've only had the oil changed regularly. I think it's due for things like transmission fluid change? And belt replacements. What are spark plugs? Do I need those replaced?
Yelp mechanics in your area. Or Toyota mechanics in your area. What's your mileage? I believe timing belt is around 100k miles. Spark plugs, who knows, they last a while, I'd wait until you misfire or something or you have sluggish performance. You should prob get a 30k interval service where they inspect everything. Probably 300-400 bucks? Independant mechanic probably 250 I'd guess. I'd probably go to the dealership if I were you, but don't let them do anything other than a diagnosis and what's included.
I just hit 80k miles. Was at 50k when I got it. But I think I will just go to the dealership, at least this time.
Based on: http://toyota.custhelp.com/app/answ...y-vehicle-have-a-timing-belt-or-timing-chain? A 2015 Yaris has a timing chain - which in theory should never need to be changed (timing belts usually need change every 60-100K miles). You likely have a serpentine belt (which runs some of the accessories) - but changing this is required only if there is a problem with it, not based on a schedule.
6 cracks per square inch is what i went off of for time to change a serpentine belt. @VanillaGorilla, i would take it to the dealer first to make sure everything is fine. after that, any reputable shop will be just fine if you dont want to do the work yourself.
https://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/omms-s/T-MMS-15Yaris/pdf/2015_Toyota_Yaris_WMG.pdf is you maintenance schedule At 80K they recommend: Check installation of driver’s floor mat Inspect and adjust all fluid levels Inspect wiper blades Replace engine oil and oil filter 1 Rotate tires Visually inspect brake lining If the car is not giving you any issues, I would just take it to any reputable mechanic for oil change and ask them to look around. At 90K I would take it to the dealer for a more complete inspection: Check installation of driver’s floor mat Inspect and adjust all fluid levels Inspect wiper blades Replace cabin air filter Replace engine air filter Replace engine oil and oil filter 1 Rotate tires Inspect the following: __ Ball joints and dust covers __ Brake lines and hoses __ Brake linings/drums and brake pads/discs 3 __ Drive belts __ Drive shaft boots __ Engine coolant 4 __ Exhaust pipes and mountings __ Front differential oil __ Fuel lines and connections, fuel tank band and fuel tank vapor vent system hoses __ Fuel tank cap gasket __ Radiator and condenser __ Steering gear box __ Steering linkage and boots __ Transmission fluid or oil
That is just a cut and paste from Toyota's document. Why this is needed there? I guess some people have it obscuring the gas or brake pedals?
