I'm wondering what kind of objection Grant and his agent might have to front-loading. Seems like a good deal for Grant if the CBA allows it
I'm sure we've all had a great coach that made a difference, but it's just not the same as the leader on the floor or field. As for Billups, he seems to have it, and I believe Dame gone will change things for him. Another part of the story that will be fun to watch play out.
100% agree. Id love for Portland to pull in a vet Guard to help Scoot/Shae as well. Someone like Delon Wright (who exactly fits our GPII TPE).
I think now you attempt to sign and trade him and acquire other assets. Rebuilding assets. Don’t lock yourself into that contract. This and even he deserves to win something before he retires
Agreed 100%. Grant is still a good player that takes pressure of the backcourt with his shooting and bailout shotmaking. I think if we get Clowney and Jovic + 4 1sts and 2 unprotected swaps + expirings to go along with Scoot, Sharpe, and Grant, we’re doing alright. Right now, the only incentive to trade Grant is for a different piece for the roster like Jarrett Allen.
Tough, because I’d really want 34mpg for Ant, 32mpg for Sharpe, 30mpg for Scoot. I want Ant playing that much to increase his value by the deadline, and I want Sharpe playing 30mpg at SG. I don’t think we should trot out Scoot/Ant/Shae as our starting 1-3. I would still take him as an insurance policy though.
Im ready to move on from Ant. He'll score a lot of points & give them all back on the other end. Im admittedly much lower on the Jamal Crawford type players
Ehh, you might be right. Martin and Grant are both good shooting wings to surround Scoot with. Jovic could probably play 10mpg at both forward positions. We have no reason to be good, I want Jovic to get as many reps as he can. I weirdly have this kind of feeling he could eventually be a big to can initiate an offense like how Jokic and Giannis do. Clowney plays 6mpg at PF, and the rest of his minutes as third string C. I’d trade an expiring + a future 2nd for Capela. Capela can rebound, catch lobs, and operate in the PnR with Ant and Scoot. Then might as well play Badji at backup C, Clowney as third string. It’s funny how much more I’m coming around to the Heat package haha.
You're still paying Grant 36M when you'll have to start thinking about Sharpe's and Scoot's contracts. Aside from that, I'd prefer to deal Grant asap, as he's 29 years old and his value only goes down. Have to say, he was quite servicable in the games without Dame (although we only won 3/14), and I don't know how he does playing with mostly young players. He averaged 25/3.5/3.6, 2.5 threes a steal and 0.85 blk, on 46/40/81 shooting splits in those 14 games. Hopefully *some* team wants to pony up some assets for that.
I like him and as long as Jaremi wants to be here I’m fine with it. You need good vets in the locker room. I’m excited for the new Blazers era! This will be Scoots team soon. I just hope they Sharpe and Scoot can coexist.
I would really want to pair young players with someone like Josh Hart and not with the guy that can score and not much else. Been there.
Yep. Keep him. He was born here. Most seasoned vet we have. We wanted him bad when Dame wanted him. Think about that. He signed the contract and if we can get another piece or two of of Dame trade, he can be very valuable. Rebuild may not take as long as we think
the problem I see with that is you're basically talking about the Nets trading 4 first round picks for Herro. Even factoring in Simmons I don't think they pay that much
I don't think it will be that much. I think we get 2 picks from Miami (still hoping for 3) And maybe 2 picks from Brooklyn (1 for Herro and 1 for Simmons). So most likely 4-5. Or are you counting Clowney?
