Both suck at defense, both are good scorers, but Wiggins might complement the rest of our roster better. Don't like his game like I like CJ's, though. If they threw in Bjelica I'd be sorely tempted. You have to involve a team with cap space because of Wiggins, so...

And at this point Minny would be dumb to do it.

This is why you try a new coach before trading, arguably, a Top 5 SG. A coach who knows how to utilize more than two players at once would be a godsend! (And the only thing Terry knows what to do with two players is pick/pop!)

    Why would GS do this?

Olshey paid McCollum double what McCollum contributes. We need roster balance...a scoring small forward, not a redundant guard.

Does anyone think that maybe Wiggins, being all of 22 years old maybe will improve both his 3 pt shooting and his defense? He's 6'7, an elite athlete and from I hear, not a bad guy so isn't any locker room cancer type. Not every 20 year old comes out of college ready to defend or shoot. Also, CJ doesn't defend either. Its not like they'd be giving up a good defender for a bad one. They would need to continue to address their 3 pt shooting, yes. But this trade idea isn't 'ridiculous'. I have no idea when/if it can happen with their current deals, but player for player, its not a stretch.

Having seen what Stotts has done with other players, I think his shooting would improve if he were to be traded to the Blazers, but his defense would not improve. So we might see better three point shooting and FT shooting, which would be great, but he would not become the defensive force that he was predicted to be. Hell, if Thibbs can't make him an elite defender, I don't think anyone can.

Straight up, couldn't do it until summer. But theoretically it could be possible as a multiple team trade.

And honestly, if I'm Cleveland I'd rather just do Love for CJ straight up.

I dunno--their biggest problem seems to be defense. Dealing two allergic-to-defense stretch bigs for some serious multi-level defense (including a stretch 4) very well could fix what's broken over there.

Defense is definitely a problem, but that won't improve until they move Thomas. I was never high on that guy from the beginning. I'm sure most of what they wanted from that Kyrie trade was the draft pick, but Thomas doesn't seem to be working out at all.

Nor Calderon, nor Rose. They went out and got three PGs to try to replace Kyrie, but between the three, they get ZERO on the ball defense from the PG position.

Combine that with Kevin Love playing out of position at center, and it's a defensive disaster in today's NBA with so many great PGs.

No on the ball defense + no rim protection == disaster.

I'm curious what kind of value Thomas has right now. Probably not great on the heels of all the Kevin Love drama. But I can't imagine they will want to re-sign him. Especially if LeBron leaves.

He's on a cheap, expiring contract, but he flat out sucks right now and just called out a sick teammate after missing 38 games and playing the worst defense on the planet. He's have one of the worst "contract years" ever. If he doesn't play, no one will offer him a huge contract due to injury concerns. If he does play, his horrible defense is exposed playing for a team with no rim protection to cover his mistakes.

So our starting lineup would be

    Dame
    Turner
    Johnson
    Aminu
    Nurkic

with Love and Crawford off the bench?

    Best,
    Sherry Thots

I wonder who could even use him...

I think I'd see if I could get NY to do Kanter/Lee/O'Quinn for Thompson/Shumpert/Thomas.

Yeah, I can't think of any team that would give up an asset of any kind for a 35 game rental of Isaiah Thomas.

IT has gone from MVP candidate to negative trade value.

Maybe they throw him into the George Hill deal with SAC to get the salaries to match. Who knows. SAC are morons. It doesn't hurt to ask.
