This will probably make people mad....but why was Trent depressed and Simons isn't? I know Dame loves Simons and they seem like friends. Did the players just not vibe with Trent? Was it all Olshey? Trent is a good young player. I wish we still had him.
I remember one of the first things Trent said after the draft. Something along the lines of “I’m excited to be in Portland for the next couple of years.” If you come into a situation with that attitude you’re just setting yourself up to be miserable. Still wish olshey would’ve paid him and not Powell!
Lol, he also says “he didn’t want to go to practice” and he “was being used the wrong way”. There are more quotes suggesting the coaching was sub par than the front office being an issue… interesting takeaway, Tince.
That's why I get for not clicking on the aritcle and just quoting a post! Either way, the narrative around here never suggested it was an Olshey issue at all. Shockingly.
When these dudes aren't playing, they are down. You see it. Surprising how playing 30 minutes a game will cheer you up instead of 5 every other night.
What is a toxic work environment? What information was released that would convince a reasonable person that the work environment was "toxic"? Dan Dickau's self-important rant? What else? The investigation by the team that released ZERO evidence it gathered? Fucking A, I am so sick of people swallowing narratives W/O looking at who benefits.
Basketball is human nature? What about people who are aren't competitive and don't give a shit about basketball- is that not human nature? I can think a lot of people who wouldn't want to play if given the chance, and not just because they might be obese or frail or have HIV like Magic. They just have zero interest in competition in general, even removing basketball from the mix. It's just not their "nature" to compete.
Basketball really is life in my household, but no, that's not what I meant... Competitive people being down because they can't compete is human nature. People being down because they are being prevented from doing what they love is human nature.
