Lakers have the money to sign LMA outright. They wouldn't give up even one of Julius or the #4 pick for him. Let alone both. Probably give you one of Hill or Young to guarantee they get him but at that point why bother?
No, he meant Monroe, Oregon. It's a small town about 20 minutes south of Corvallis. The Batum hate on this board is strong.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=njspnjl portland gets: nick young, marresse speights, harrison barnes, andre drummond, festus ezeli, ed davis, jordan clarkson, and 1st round pick from lakers (2nd pick) and pistons (8) and resign wesley and robin . lakers get: LA, jodie meeks, and GSW 1st round pick golden state get: jordan hill, tayshaun prince, ryan kelly, and lakers 1st round pick (27) detroit gets: batum, shaun livingston, justin holiday, ognjen kuzmic, and lakers 2nd round pick portland cut: speights, steve blake, allen crabbe, and ed davis portland draft: jahlil okafor with lakers 2nd overall pick, stanley johnson with pistons 8th overall pick, and rondae hollis-jefferson with our pick pg-lillard, jordan clarkson, frazier sg-wesley, cj, young sf-harrison barnes, stanley johnson, rondae pf-okafor, meyers, freeland c-drummond, robin, ezeli this 4 team trade is great, everyone got what they wants. everyone got better. portland would become a nightmare team in for a very long time. our team would so young and really good. our backcourt got better and better depth. our frontcourt would punish team on both sides of the floor. in my opinion this trade is just what the doctor ordered.
Or, better yet, sign LaMarcus to a contract that will allow him to retire as the greatest Blazer ever. And I won't root for a team with Nick Young on it.
Sounds like Jimmy Butler wants out of Chi Town, is there any way to do a sign and trade for him and LMA? We could sign a DeAndre like player beforehand and start Meyers at the 4.
Why do a sign and trade? If Jimmy wants to sign with the Blazers and LMA with Chicago, they'd just sign.
Would Portland not have to renounce all of their other free agents with a sign and trade? I mean, there's no way Wes or AAA would be back if we did that anyway. Oh wait, I guess if we wanted to sign someone like DeAndre they'd have to do that anyway.
I'm not sure if the Blazers are enough under the cap after renouncing LMA to sign Butler. Seems like S&T would be a pretty big loophole here.
The max is 4 years in a S&T, no? So zero benefit to the player if he facilitates a deal. I mean, he can sign elsewhere for 4.
I'd try to get Jimmy Butler while keeping LA.. something centered around Batum maybe? Because if we end up getting Jimmy Butler to play alongside Wes and Dame there would be no chance of Aldridge leaving.
Hopefully Olshey convinces Afflalo to accept his option by dating he will trade him somewhere where he'll start. Could flip him, Batum, and 23 (even 2018 first round pick) for Butler and Gibson. Gibson 8.5M coupled with Kaman and Blake could be a good enough return for the Clippers if DeAndre was gone and was interested in coming here, but could also be an option in a sign and trade for someone else. Just thinking out loud
True, unless the player likes the organization and wants to help them get something instead of nothing when the player leaves.
