That might be all they need but he hasn't shown he can play in two games let alone one good series.

Just a FYI Miami is over the tax threshold which means they do not get a full MLE. If they do have any MLE it would be around 3 million max, which would likely still be enough to that that cancer.

He hasn't played basketball in four years. Did you see how bad Derrick Rose's timing was after missing one year? It took him months to regain his form and he was still shooting horrific percentages. Oden is not going to have the reactions necessary to help a team on both ends of the court. The Heat will be better off with Birdman or Joel Anthony playing center. Now if Oden had a few months to play in the regular season maybe he could get used to a role that would help the team. If he can't play until the playoffs he will not be of any benefit on the court.

The problem is they are well into the luxury tax, so that $3 million MLE would cost them around $10+ million. When they are title favorites anyways and its debatable if Bynum would even be a postive to the team I highly doubt they pay him that type of money.

Again, Greg Oden isn't a Blazer anymore, we don't have to pretend hype him up still.

Exactly. This guy has south beach written all over him. Remember when the Lakers were frustrated that he was taking so long on his rehab and he was partying at the Playboy mansion while his teammates were on a road trip? That life style (which albeit sound pretty good to me) is what he wants. But without putting in the work.

The part he doesn't get is that once he is out of basketball, the fame goes away and so do the invitations to the big parties. At that point he will want back in the game. Right now he is lazy, and he needs somebody like Lebron and Wade to light a fire under him. Regardless of where he ends up.....it won't be in Portland.

Sure we do. We need vindication for passing on Kevin Durant.

And, personally, as much as I dislike the Heat, I dislike OKC even more. So, if it comes down to MIA vs. OKC in the finals, I'll be rooting for Kevin Pritchard's prediction to come true: Durant will win scoring titles, but Oden will win rings.

If Bynum accepted a vet minimum contract and if he was fine with no guarantee of minutes, role or touches I'd be fine with bringing him in. We could cut Watson but hire him as an assistant. I don't think Bynum is a knucklehead like JR Smith he's just a guy who isn't interested in a sport he has one of the most gifted bodies on the planet to play. Thats got to be such an odd position. If he wants to be part of a team like the Blazers then I'd give him an interview but I highly doubt there is any way he'd want to spend time up here in the winter on a minimum salary deal.

    Yeah, we need him.

I do think we could deal with one knucklehead on the team, but I question his ability to contribute meaningfully on defense, his desire to play basketball and his self awareness that he isn't a starter in the NBA anymore.

I'd sign him to do HCP's job.

Would Riley be cold enough to waive Oden and sign Bynum for the rest of the season?

No to Bynum. The only teams that should be looking at him are the Heat and Spurs. They both I think can manage him and if not, they will drop him. Kind of the way Pop did Stephen Jackson last year.

It's a bummer because the guy is talented, as proven against us a few weeks back. He could be one of the best centers in the league if he had his head on straight. I'd hate to see him going to Miami and find success.

I personally think any kind of success he will have is nominal due to his sheer disdain for the game

Posts have to be at least 3 characters long or it would have been even shorter. ;)

I question Bynum's heart for basketball. Heck, even he said he lost love of the game this season.

And he's a high maintenance problem. Our coaching staff and players don't need to deal with his crap.
