It seems that some of you are not familiar with what I call "The Knucklehead Rule."

The Pippen Bulls had Rodman. A knucklehead yes, but worth it. They did not have any other knuckleheads.

The Rasheed/Bonzi/Rider Blazers violated this rule in a big way and paid for it with a shortened window.

This is why I have no interest in J.R. Smith. A knucklehead with a low shooting percentage? Why?

Bynum would qualify as our one knucklehead. I think he'd straighten out being on such an unselfish team. That being said, it sounds like he wants more than vet. min. and that the Blazers are not interested, so it's all moot.

The Heat still have their full taxpayers MLE available to use if they want. They could offer Bynum over $3M. The question is, do they see him as someone who could really help them, or is he just a knucklehead?

Everything Bynum screams substance abuse to me. Just wait till a few years after he is out of the league and we will hear all about it. My guess is playing through pain... surgery after surgery...yada yada yada ... 20 oxycodone a day.

This is totally based on just a vibe, no good evidence, or even bad evidence. But I have seen it before and this just reminds me of it.

As I posted earlier, should the Heat waive Oden and sign Bynum? I don't see why they wouldn't strongly think about it, considering Greggers is only on a one-year contract for $880k and could continue to work out in Miami over the summer.

I used the word scrum because its a rugby term and Joel probably likes rugby because he's brittish. Post should be read in a Freeland accent.

The full taxpayer MLE would only be for about $1.5 million since the season is half over. But the Heat would have to pay ~300% luxury tax on it and cut a player on a guaranteed contract. With them cutting Mike Miller who actually contributed to them winning two titles just to save money I find a Bynum deal highly unlikely unless they view Bynum as a key role player.

This is the best line ever because it could be so true for guys like Andrew Bynum, your DeMarcus Cousins or Greg Oden type of guys.

Yeah, yeah, he can be a loose cannon. And, yeah, he will drive you all mad, but in terms of raw talent and...and right stuff, there is no better driver in the world. He's the real thing, Teddy. It's what we all came into this for. Nine days out of ten you'll be pulling your hair out, but on that tenth day James will be invincible and that is the day you will wish you had him in your car. You'll never win the championship with Jackie Ickx, you just might with James

You're forgeting that Cousins has TWO healthy knees...Bynum and Oden don't have TWO healthy knees between them. Big difference there. Do you really want another 7 ft expensive center with bad knees taking a roster spot?

All 15 roster spots for the Blazers are guaranteed this season so you don't waive one of these guys without paying the whole salary. That's a big risk as well.
