I would be surprised if it would be Olshey's idea to intentionally bury Simons on the bench for another year. He looks good if Simons excels not sits. Terry would more likely be the one to bury him, not Neil. They will need a Vet though for the minimum. Hopefully it is someone who can play with Simons like maybe Rondo??
I mean, there are funky things to it mechanically. But it works for him. You find a number of good shooters who don't shoot with "perfect mechanics or fundamentals." So it's not a bust on him at all. I just think it looks awkward with the elbow, the lean and the half or jerky follow-through. His shot is really soft in spite of all that.
I hate the idea of reconstructing jumpshots... just do what is comfortable/goes in. Unless it’s so janky/broken that it gets blocked everytime.
Simons has great mechanics. No interference from his left hand. Shooting elbow tucked in. Smooth one-motion shot. Quick release. Good, consistent extension on his follow through. No shotting-shoulder rotation. Almost always on-balance. People see his low set point (which he doesn't even really have since he has a one-motion shot) and they see his off-hand raising above the release point and they think it's weird. Thing is, his off-hand is lifting up off of the ball and therefore, has 0 interference with the ball.
I can't really tell, but his mechanics have always looked really, strange to me. I mean I don't really care the kid can get the ball in the hoop, could shoot the ball like Shawn Marion if the balls going in.
Not from that angle. I watched further into the video and it still looks out. Just like it did in his scouting vids and just like it did when he played last year. Eat a Snickers, Bones.
