Ever have an Emu steak? I did once in Billings and it wasn't bad at all. Taste like beef.
The only big bird that I eat is turkey. And I loves me some crispy brown hot turkey skin as well as some medium rare turkey breast.

Its all pretty healthy. I have an instant pot and a Sous Vide circulator.

Ok, Sous Vide circulator, Im intrigued. What all do you cook in besides steak? Seems like salmon would be good also. What brand do you have, do you recommend it? The Breville one likes nice, and I like their brand but it seems a little expensive.

If you dont have an air fryer you need one to complete your collection of awesome cooking devices. The Breville panini press is good buy also. Im a big Traeger fan also.

A true steak lover will never order a fillet.
The best steaks are NY, T-Bone, Porterhouse, ribeye. Really good steaks have the bone in.
El Presidente is exactly right when he says women tend to like the fillets for reasons I'll never understand but then they're women.
Most steak lovers want nothing on their steak but salt and they eat them charred medium rare.
The best steaks, of course, are prime or, if you can get them, wagyu.
Steaks with just a little pink in the middle are medium well and too done.
The best steaks are served on a sizzling plate.
Excellent sides are fried mushrooms, grilled asparagus tips and baked potato with sour cream, butter and chives.
To drink, you should have a really good quality dry red wine such as a Mondavi Napa valley cabernet sauvignon that's of a quality that matches the steak.
God you guys are driving me crazy with hunger. I seldom eat that much meat these days but I'm now starting to crave a delicious steak.

I'm a sucker for blue cheese crumble on top and some grilled onions.

Chicken breasts turn out great too. Have done tri tips, etc as well. Have an Anova.

I've done salmon a few times, you have to overcook it more than you think...when it's more medium, it is quite easily crumbled.

I like rib eye. Rub it with a crushed clove of garlic, olive oil, salt, pepper, let stand about an hour, grill, squeeze on a bit of lemon juice. Grass fed and organic of course.

I am retired so income hasn't changed although life savings being depleted. My plan is to hold the money for now. My car will need routine maintenance soon, a local independent mechanic. That's about half. The rest I plan to put into local economy, not chains or big on line retailers, local restaurants, stores, museums, etc.

Basically you cook stuff by heating it in a constant water bath. You vacuum seal meats/chicken/etc and then cook it this way so you keep the temperature precise. Works really good, takes a while.

You dont even need to spend the money on a real sous vide circulator. I bought a simple temp. controller for like 20 bucks. Fill the crockpot with water, plug it into the controller. Keeps the water temp what you need it at.

Just throwing out a cheaper option for anyone interested.

Great idea...never considered that angle. I have a super-pot/slow cooker/pressure cooker...think I'll give it a try.

What I have found with the sous vide circulator is that it has a dramatic influence on chicken, especially of chicken breast. Much of the chicken we buy nowadays has a different taste and texture because of how it is raised/processed and for example when grilled/fried/broiled has less flavor and is much tougher than it was years ago.

Thanx for the tip.

Lindsey Graham is whining that some on the lower end of unemployment might get a little extra money for 3 months than what they were making when working. Where did the republicans find such a despicable group of politicians? There are some good ones but man, they definitely have the market on the least caring types.

Yeah that’s a bad look. Definitely not the time to bitch about something like that. My guess is that most in the service industry won’t get near as much from unemployment versus working since they probably don’t report all of their tips.

My son is a journeyman electrician and has been at the Kaiser hospital for a number of years with a contractor. He has been given the opportunity to if he was concerned about working in all areas of the hospital he could furlough and collect unemployment. He would never do that he's says as he's watching others give of their time and efforts. Of course if he comes down with systems he Stays home.
He's get the ceiling's to pull wire and run ac to all locations and today he's was in the area of the morgue and they had sign's up indicating covid-19 placements. He said its very eerie as there are hardly any people in the areas that would be packed with traffic. He's pulling power for the tent's that are going up.

What's the big deal? The increase is a drop in the bucket.
Let's say you want to take a shot at this sweetheart deal. You'd have to quit your job first. But if you quit a job you are ineligible for unemployment. You must be layed off to collect unemployment. So, you do your job poorly so that you can collect more than your job pays. Well, you can't be fired for cause and collect unemployment. The result, you just can't do anything to collect all that rich unemployment money. All you can do is get layed off because the company can't afford the payroll. Now, how does this compare with the Billions and Billions of dollars that companies will collect? I think I know the answer to that.

I told my wife I don't want a single cent. We both work from home, anyway, so the social distancing thing hasn't been a real disruption. However, it has been a bit challenging selling commercial real estate these days, so we'll see.

I am taking a collection of such checks to return to the Treasury for the donors. I'm doing my part during this crisis.
