You guys oversold it. I loved seeing his old characters too but it wasn't that funny. Still liked it though.
We ran into Chappelle TWICE on the road over the years in the SAME hotel! We came in late to our hotel around 1:30AM done in SF......Standing in the elevator with LA/Camby and I think Blake......as the elevator door starts to close a hand stops it like you'd see in a movie. Door opens....it's Dave Chappelle! He was high as fuck, giggling, looking around at the guys and said,"Look at these tall motherfuckas!" We all recognized him right away and everybody started cracking up! He was real cool. Was living at the hotel at the time. Then, I shit you not, about 2 seasons later, same situation and as we rounded the corner just arriving, he was sitting in the lobby by himself just talking to himself. He looked up and said,"My favorite NBA team!" "What's up my bruthas?!?" Very random. He was cool as hell.
I think he's my favorite comedian of all time. I loved Eddie Murphy before he got all soft.... and Chris Rock...... and actually John Mulaney is really strong right now, but Dave Chappelle is still my favorite.
Ansari hasn't been great since Dangerously Delicious. That's where all of his best material came from.
Really? I liked dangerously delicious, but i love buried alive and saw modern romance in person in pdx, which was a blast. Loved the show master of none too.
Worked with him (Dave) a couple times, he is funny as hell live! Cost me an extra $900, (fire marshal visit, pyro permit, fire watch, and pyrotech), so he could smoke butts and put them out on my stage. Chain smokes while he performs.
The last two that I have seen on Netflix have been a little stale.... lots of what, to me, came off as whiny about relationships. His stuff on R Kelly and Jay Z were hilarious. Maybe I'm getting his shows mixed up, but I know the last two have been sub-par compared to his earlier stuff.
Saw both last night and laughed my ass off. Not sure why there is such an outrage over some of the jokes he told. Makes me want to throw a banana at them.
We need a comedian like Dave Chappelle right now. He's a brilliant man and I think he does a great job of bridging racial gaps through comedy. That shit about having to watch key and peele do his show was hilarious.
Laughed a couple times the first one, second one was better. Nowhere near his earlier work. It was a big bag of meh imo. Disappointed.
Because some people have no sense of humor. If you talk/joke about gays or women or anything that's not white men, you're gonna get hate. It's that simple.
