I drafted him in the last round as a joke. I had Phillip Rivers as my starter, and Jay Cutler as the back-up. Cutler never was in my line-up, and Rivers got benched somewhere around Week 5 or 6.
I had the best fantasy team for the first 8 weeks and then injuries depleted my team. Brees was my only real steady. Who knows what would have happened if Britt and Andre Johnson stayed healthy.
Meh you got BS lucky. I was going to pick him up but our league messed up. ESPN wouldn't let me drop either of my QBs and I wasn't allowed to have 3 QBs. I didn't even draft my own team so it shows how much I don't care. He should definitely be MVP but at some point people need to adjust for inflation and league average.
If it makes you feel any better, I would have won the league without him because Stafford was just as good all year.
Now that defensive coordinators have had a chance to scout him and make him play to his weaknesses, is anyone still on this guys bandwagon?
lol what? so you think defensive coordinators weren't scouting him last year? I don't understand what you're trying to say..
It takes a full year for teams to implement a defense specifically designed to stop a player. Teams can't do it week in and week out as effectively. So, what I am trying to say is just like Vince Young, who had a very good rookie year, defenses figured him out and he floundered. A lot like Newton is doing this year
Thanks for answering the question, I guess? Not sure you really ever did, and apparently don't believe defensive coordinators with an entire off season to look at film of Cam Newton aren't able to play him differently.
Yes, I read it, but I think Vince young actually improved beyond his rookie year as a passer, and his numbers seem to show that. Still unsure why his team wouldn't just commit to him, but I don't see that he peaked as a rookie at all.
you haven't presented anything worth responding to. His numbers through 5 games are only slightly worse than last year and he just got done facing 3 of the toughest teams in the league the last 3 weeks. teams don't know anymore about how to gameplan for him now than they already did 6 or 7 weeks into last season.
Newton has basically the same QB rating Matthew Stafford, except Newton actually has some rushing TDs. I guess the NFL has figured out Stafford, too? Alex Smith is #1 in the NFL in QB Rating. I guess that means that the NFL forgot the first 6 years where they had Alex Smith figured out, and he sucked? What an odd thread to being with, and even odder to breathe new life into it. Oh, Newton has a better QB Rating than Mike Vick. I guess the NFL finally figured out how to defend Vick?
Jay Cutler and Tony Romo have lower QB ratings than Cam Newton. Guess the NFL has figured out how to defend them, too.
