The first offense is going 11-21 mph over the posted speed limit is around $184. So $400 sounds about right. I just paid the $184 ticket and got back $35 in good record standings with the county or DMV. No increase with insurance. About a month ago I was going 42mph in a 35 construction zone but the motorcycle cop didn't pull me over. They really go after people going over 10 mph to give a ticket.
