I agree that people have to stop pretending they're safe in publicly crowded environments. That being said, I don't know how these horrible high number of Omicron cases will affect hospitalizations but more importantly cases with long term effects and most importantly deaths. Omicron is obviously a much more virulent strain but I'm hoping (even though it's mostly effecting the stupid far more than those taking proactive precautions) that Omicron will be far less dangerous than any form of COVID that we've seen before. It's just a hope but there are some good signs when it comes to that hope. So maybe just maybe we won't see a huge spike in severe COVID cases and resultant deaths... hell the average of 1000+ deaths a day in this country that we've been just accepting for the last four months has been a nightmare. If Omicron despite it's spread can take us under that level then people will go about their everyday lives just like they have been for a while now. I'm again just really hopeful that the early returns on the mortality rates from Omicron are an indication that it's much less deadly... I also really hope that if people are going to live their lives "normally" that they do so thoughtfully in regards to masking up and being vaccinated.
This is why overall health is so important. The more serious cases and deaths are still highly influenced by previous comorbidities. Educate yourselves, eat healthier, get more exercise, and take precautions. It's not that difficult. The overall health of our nation has plummeted and any random trip to the grocery store will reveal cart after cart of very low nutrition food.....the equivalent of which most people would NEVER put in their car's gas tank as fuel. Put yourself in the best position possible to counteract this and any other virus.
CC my mortgage company and tell them to put a hold on my bills if they shut it down FAMS! I just took my test 2 minutes after Nurk….. on standby.
This is why our country should take overall health more seriously as a nation and encourage healthy habits rather than offering subsidies for garbage food and fossil fuels and unhealthy work conditions.
With the players out with covid and the icy weather tomorrow I wonder how much cheaper tickets are going to be for the game? $6 now. https://www.vividseats.com/portland-trail-blazers-tickets-moda-center-12-27-2021/production/3696933
I've wanted the Blazers to get another G league team for a long time now and looks like we got some tryouts!
ironic given the spread and problems are continuing almost entirely by the unvaccinated. wonder who those people support.
They went shopping and eating and out for entertainment....with an airborne virus what do people expect but those who have followed safety precautions will survive....it's going to be at least 3 more months before it calms down if South Africa is any example....
