That was actually a really fun game. 3 qrts of great basketball play and one complete breakdown.

I'm not allowed to get the free whatever it is these days. That's hard for a swag hound like me.

It didn't have anything to do with heart.... it's inexperience and youth.

It wasn't inexperience and youth either. It was just tremendous play by Detroit. Give them their due. They're young too.

I'm sorry, 41-11... that's just an epic collapse from a team that was handling Detroit for 3.25 quarters. Very discouraging.

Yeah, we might not even get homecourt advantage at this rate.

lol dude, Portland is ranked 4th in the NBA in 3PTA and in the lower third of teams attempting shots from less than 9ft.

COY is a joke, didn't Mike Brown win it once? being a 2nd tier coach in the NBA is not sooo bad, but he's no Popovich or Carlisle...
Davis back to the basket game? you must be joking... he's doing good aggressive moves, but nothing that'll give you flashbacks of Hakeem the dream.

The difference is that Jackson is also an amazing scorer when he's on. That particular combination: strong guard defenders plus a major scoring threat at the guard spots is what has resulted in all 3 of Portland's losses. The defense helps to negate our guard-dominant offense, and the scoring guards take advantage of the relatively weak defensive play of Lillard and McCollum. Fortunately, it's not a combination that many teams have.

Those of you who are complaining about the meltdown aren't seeing the forest for the trees. The only way that you can have success in life is through failure. Try reading a John Maxwell book. We need to get our asses whooped at home like that. We need to have epic losses and meltdowns like that to succeed. Stop complaining and understand what's necessary for us to become a top tier team. I was pissed at the loss as well. But then I had to think, how are we going to get to a point to where we don't have those meltdowns? We need to have a few of them to understand. So stop whining and understand that this young team needs to have these bumps and bruises to make sure that we don't get bumps and bruises in the future. Get your minds right.

Nobody is Hakeem the dream. That's the best back to the basket player of all time. Not sure why you're comparing our underrated back to the basket players to him.

We blew them out for 75% of the game, then remembered that we're supposed to tank...one game over 500...right on target for my win prediction of 43

If my life has taught me anything, it's that hard work and learning from your mistakes are bullshit. You will succeed mostly by accident, trading on your potential until you're promoted into of a position where your mistakes can no longer cause harm to the company. There you will stay, unable to see that your success is a fluke of other people's poor judgment of you and pity for you, until you earn too much for the company to profit from your presence.

But sure yeah John Maxwell books.

    :ghoti:

J/k you make good points, for a ref.

I agree with you on virtually every point. That said, we still need to go out and find one guard....just one...who knows how to defend. Last night was unconcionable. Matador defense does not and will not get it done. And I'm past the point of believing Dame and CJ are capable of becoming better defenders. If Dame couldn't learn defense at the feet of "The Glove", then it's unlikely to ever happen....

My mantra this season.....it's just a training camp season..this is the year to make mistakes and experiment with roster matchups. In the meantime...we're seeing some really great things...UCD is right about a defensive guard...enter Gerald Henderson...CJ becomes a 6 man and we might want to think about keeping Henderson paired with Dame and Crabbe with CJ more than Dame and CJ together

Dame never even worked with Gary Payton. That said, I agree with you on getting a guard who can defend.
