I still agree and think he is right. But here is the problem with this thread and its title....

Everyone is focused on the word BETTER, when they should be focused on the word TEAM.

I think we are a better team 1-12. Sure a couple players from last year are vastly superior to those filling their shoes, but most of our bench is a HUGE upgrade. The team as a whole I think is better.

 

Our bench is a major upgrade over years past. HUGE HUGE upgrade.

I think the bench made more strides forward than the starters took backwards. CJ has more than taken the place of Wes. Aminu is the same as Batum. Plums is better than Rolo in my opinion...(more of what we really need). Dame is still here, so that leave s the PF position. We lost big stats in this position, but more than make it up from the bench...

Yes the team is better than last year. stats don't always show these things. Plus this team has one hell of an upside where last years team hit a peak and were about to start sliding down.

yes this is a better team overall. Better doesn't always translate to more wins or better stats. Better can simply mean better off for the long haul... Yes we are a better team.

Nobody ever questioned is we had a better bench or not, that's obvious. That's what made this thread an instant classic that will never be forgotten FAMS! This team is NOT 'better" than last seasons.

 

Saying that a team is better is worthless without an actual metric to measure what "better" means exactly.

Are they better in terms of wins? No.

Are they better in terms of superstar talent? No.

Are they better in terms of overall talent? Maybe. If you look at the roster from 1-15, the overall amount of talent is higher than years past. If we still had LMA, we would be one of the best teams in the west.

 

But isn't the bench part of the team and in fact a larger percentage of the roster? Can you break down the names like i did to validify your opinion? Id love to see who you think is worse/better, etc.

 

Is a Mercedes Benz a better car than a Top Fuel Dragster?

In every way except straight line acceleration.

If the NBA is a drag race to winning a title this team is the Mercedes.

 

The Hoosiers concept of a bunch of "OK" players coming together and succeeding is great. It just doesn't happen very often. Give me 2 stars and 4 above average players and I'm happy. I will say that our 8-12th players are "better" than last season, but thats not what we are talking about. You need more than that to be a "better" team. This team is not "better" than last seasons. Not even fucking close. Maybe "better" means something different to me than you guys.

 

I'd go with an Audi though.
