Our schedule is brutal. If we played the teams schedules we are competing with I would feel much much better.
Denver? Really? Utah? You mean the team that just traded Deron Williams? Why not throw out the Clippers while you're at it, or maybe the Kings. I don't see how we could POSSIBLY finish above any of the teams in the west actually... Season over.
This reminds me of when GS traded for Stephen Jackson and got hot and ousted the #1 seed Mavericks. We were a tough team to beat last night without Camby or Wallace. Add those guys and every team in the West should be very scared of us. WCF is possible. Probably lose in 6 or 7 to Lakers.
I think that the team, by adding a solid starting-level player without losing one, has become a near-lock to make the playoffs. I also think that, by adding a guy who can be a real difference maker when things go well, the team has given itself a good chance to beat anyone but the Spurs and Lakers in the first round. I was leaning towards moving Miller and Camby in order to get younger, but I didn't anticipate we would get someone as good as Wallace for so little. Ed O.
late to the party (and not about to read the whole thread). It puts us at the same spot as earlier. The season is over.
We lost the game, probably because Nate made a last second lineup switch and put Roy in for Miller. I saw Roy dragging us down, not lifting us up. Our defense was weak and we had no fluidity on offense. He's a square peg with these guys.
Roy finished with +8 - highest on the team last night. We lost because we could not play Roy longer minutes and no-one was able to hit the ocean down the stretch when the Lakers doubled LMA and pushed him out of the key. It seems that it's not only the other teams that you do not watch play basketball, but also the Blazers.
I think Denver plays at least .500 the rest of the season(although I haven't seen their schedule). Lawson/Felton Afflalo/Smith Harrington/Gallinari Martin/Chandler Nene/Anderson/Mozgov That is a deep ass roster that can score a lot of points and they some good big guys.
No go to guy. A lot of teams in this league have a lot of talent bull fall apart because they can't get points when they need them the most.
We just took a team that finally jelled and threw disruptive Roy back in the mix then added a new guy also used to getting his way. I'd rather have stood pat, or at least sent Roy off in the deal. I just don't see a Blazer title as long as he's here.
It's true they have no one to go to in the 4th(although maybe Nene emerges), but their depth is what will really help them and not having a guy to go to will really on hurt them against the best teams in the NBA. They could still beat up on the weaker teams in the NBA because when the other team brings in their bench players Denver should have a big advantage. Their big guy rotation is pretty solid as well.
ThisThat I'm just amazed at how little publicity this trade is getting from the national media. The Nazr Mohammed trade was talked about more on ESPNews than Wallace/Przy for Przy/Cunningham/non-lottery picks.
You weren't paying attention. In regulation with the ball and tied with 5 secs to go Roy said something to Nate as the guys took the floor, then ran out and grabbed Miller and replaced him. Miller looked incredulous for a sec, then instructed Roy where he was supposed to be and went to the bench. Roy drove into 3 guys and lost the ball and the game. OT was merely a formality.
