I still like the idea of a 3-way deal with OKC/WAS with Porter (and Roberson) coming to us, Mahinmi/Harkless going to OKC, and various salary reducing pieces and a pick going to WAS. Of course, if OKC doesn't want to take on more salary, then the notion is moot, but still...
I'd rather have Oubre. Harkless, Davis and a 2md for Oubre and Mahinmi makes a lot of sense. For WAS. They shed $21M in going from Mahinmi to Harkless, who replaces Oubre. Davis is a cheap expiring.
Help me out here--I haven't watched a ton of Wizards games, so why is everyone so high on Oubre? Just youth and "potential"? Or has he actually shown something worthy of putting us further into the luxury tax? The advanced metrics show progression, but are still pedestrian. What am I missing?
He played really well when given minutes and an increased role. And his defense has been stellar when I've watched him so he projects as a two way player. He's also got a decent enough face up game with an increasingly consistent shot. You could say he's due for a breakout season if given the opportunity. Stats are identical to PG's in year 2 (Oubre in year 3). I wouldn't hesitate in throwing our first round pick for him.
I have no problem with upgrading Harkless, but Roberson isn;t that player. Not even sure why this is even a discussion as Roberson is injured now.
Chill out. Watch some porn, or something. Many of Neil's trades are made without advanced knowledge by the public, i.e. we won't know about it until it happens. Furthermore, it's usual for Neil's deadline trades to take place on the day of the deadline. We can hope, but it's very likely that we'll have to wait to see what tomorrow brings.
One thing I have noticed is that he always gets a lot of minutes. He must be doing something that his coach likes.
Oubre is really good. Wash knows it. Blazers can’t get him with throwing a mishmash of players together that’s for sure
Yeah, most trades don’t happen until deadline day. I remember couple years ago there were something like 7 trades announced within 30 minutes. I’m still preparing for Portland either not doing anything, or doing something dumb. And then I’ll explode.
The only thing out of his control was Aldridge. Everything after that is on him. Batum trade was horrible got zero assets out of that unless we magically turn vonleh into a pick. Got nothing for Barton/afflallo. Meyers I could see after he played well offering him a contract but then he turned that deal down to “bet on himself” played horrible, got injured, AND GOT THE SAME FUCKING CONTRACT!!! like what is the logic there? Turner got 17 is worth 6-8. Allen Crabbe got 19, blame Allen if you want but Neil is the gm. Festus ezeli lol. Made a long term commitment to moe when he didn’t know what he had. Sold Crabbe for dead money. Gunna have to sell off more assets now cause we can’t afford them and/or they suck. Which part of this situation do you think Ended up being a good bet and reflects well on Neil?
I honestly don't know who's we get on here that better than him. Potential GM's know how hard it is in Portland. Shit. People forget that outside of Evan Turner about the only player who WE didn't approach in 2016 was Bismack Biyombo. How do you beats the odds when that your chief FA options.
That's also the summer that EVERYONE had cap space. You play your cards better & wait until the following summer when there was much less competition for services. It's like when you go to the bar. You have to wait your turn while guys like me take first dibs on the girls. At the end of the night, you can take the ugly ones home. Or you can go on a weeknight when there's a whole lot less competition.
Worry about who you replace him with later. Nothing I listed other than turner and ezeli was a fa blunder. Mostly trades and overall overvaluation of the assets he had.
Yep, cause that’s when all the hot chicks in search of guys that couldn’t land them on the weekend go out.
