Frankly, I support a min wage hike to $10/hr (this hike is just above, but whatever).

Military bases have a limited 'population' and therefore a limited number of customers. It's a shame that some reataurants are leaving as a result, but such is business I suppose. That said, all this makes me think of the Seattle min wage hikes...

I don't see why anyone supports the minimum wage. While there are people to take the job at the wage offered, why would the government say that it must be higher? It becomes ridiculous when it is made higher than a business can operate and produce a profit. Business do go out of business in areas where they can not hire workers at a wage that allows for a profit . So the system works without any government interference.

About the only benefit of the minimum wage is to give the Democrat politician something to crow about when they raise the wage, Vote for me!!!

So privatized on-base food joints pay starvation wages, while the customers are fat dependents of $80,000 per year Lt. Cols.

That's shameful. Charge the military fatcats 20 cents more per hamburger so the civilian employees can pay their rent.

Before Nixon, on-base eating facilities were staffed by Federal employees. It was great.

I used to buy some food, then walk outside and check the newspaper stand. Once, the headline was, "Marilyn Monroe dead." I was eating as I walked a few feet from exiting the door.

Living on-base was a socialist paradise. Gym, craft shop, pools, theaters, eating, ball fields, you name it. No traffic.

I remember leaving Tokyo in '55. Our two maids, Coya and Miyoko, were there to wave goodbye. The dock started moving away...until I realized it was the big ship embarking. We lived the high life in the military. 15 cent movies every weekend under the outdoor Hawaiian stars.

But now, the overpaid fatcats can't pay a little more for their strawberry milk shakes. So the civilian servants have to go onto welfare to keep Republicans happy about the minimum wage.

uh, Denny, Washington would have made an example of him at Valley Forge. He needed to shoot one asshole to stop the desertion.

When I was in the miltary (Guam and TN) the fast food places were few. The food was actually pretty good.

How is our military eating nutritionless garbage a good thing anyway? They haven't won a war since 1945.
