He was gifted 2 all-nba players, granted he did pull the trigger on those deals. It was so bad that Pierce wanted to be traded.
Now you're just making stuff up. IIRC, that rumor started when an "unnamed source" said Pierce wanted some veteran help or else he wanted a trade.
Before the Kirk trade i wasn't sure. But now I can definitely see the appeal. Very close to securing this thing, I'd just make sure to try to clear a little more cap space.
Doc Rivers isn't the greatest coach in the world, but he was coach of the year in 99-00 for Orlando. And Deng is gone if he doesn't start at SF. LBJ can guard 2's for the time being. Deng doesn't bring enough off the bench to be a sixth man type. He's not a 2 and he needs others to get him shots.
Looks to me like Pierce backtracked after the story came out. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-pierce062507 Here's the problem for Ainge: According to a league executive, Paul Pierce has finally told team management that unless the Celtics come out of this week with a talented veteran co-star for him, they should expect him to make a public declaration soon after Thursday's draft that he wants a trade. http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/38648/20060111/pierce_wants_to_stay_in_boston/ Celtics captain Paul Pierce says the report made yesterday that he would be open to a trade to a different team was not the whole story. Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald gave Pierce a chance to say the whole story. Pierce said, “I said everything in there, but not everything I said got put in, I also said I wanted to stay with the Celtics my whole career. I was asked if I would be open to a trade if the Celtics approach me. I just said as a businessman you have to. I have no choice if they come to me. But I’m not going to them."
