What's really weird is I climaxed 0.4 second after Lillard made that shot.

I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

So, you did not get your shot off in time, but it sounds like there was some hand checking.

I have heard daily since it happened about this. "The clock started late" I say the same thing to all of them. Yes, you are right, but had it started as soon as he touched the ball, he still would have got that shot off. The ball was half way to the basket when the clock went off.

Do they realize that it's a human being pushing the button to start the clock? We are human. There is going to be a slight delay between when someone actually touches the ball and when the clock starts. It's not going to be instantaneous.

They realize it's a Portland clock operator. Most claim had it been in Houston he would not have got the shot off.

The only way he would not have gotten the shot off is if they started the clock before he touched it, so I guess they're right. If it was in Houston, I'm sure we wouldn't have gotten a favorable clock operator.

Maybe it's not true anymore (I doubt it though) but in years past, shot clock operators in the playoffs are neutral, and not Portland or Houston folks, precisely to prevent this sort of home cooking.

many Houston fans also believe that the Rockets would've still won the titles in 94 and 95 even if Jordan hadn't retired.

    So..

re: the travel accusation. Don't you get a little lee-way to 'gather' the ball?

Even if it was instant. He would have got the shot off anyway. Like MM said, it was half-way to the basket when the clock hit 0.

They're still in the first stage of the Kubler-Ross model: Denial.

They have a way to go.

Well, there's the 'jump stop', and yes, he's allowed to move before he has control of the ball. But seriously, I can't count the number of times I saw players travel above the circle gathering themselves in this and every other playoff game, many times before shooting a three. Harden does it every single time. It's part of the game at this point.

Again: The clock does not lose a tenth of a second the instant the player touches the ball. A tenth of a second has to go by before the clock goes from 0.9 to 0.8, not before. SMH

Funny we're still responding to this. It has been imperically proven by a half a dozen posters and other non partisan observers that he got the shot off in under 0.7 seconds.

We should let it go. ;)

We're frankly a really insecure fan base and the habit is not to rest until our opinion is accepted by everyone. Usually that opinion is that we were robbed, but in this case it's that we didn't cheat to win.

The true winner's attitude is "tough shit."

I think to build on that, many of us have felt that the NBA is rigged on some level, so it is extremely offensive when another fanbase accuses us of benefiting from biased officiating or in this case time keeping.
