Damned shame that Roy and Dre can't work it out. If moving Dre to the bench means more Roy iso's, it going to mean more losses to playoff caliber teams, imo. The league has figured out how to handle Roy when he starts the 1 on 3 iso plays, as the Rox showed in the playoffs last year.

My other HUGE concern is that Roy and Blake do not get Greg involved. Steve can't make the entry pass into the post for shit, and Brandon seldom even tries.

If Brandon is going to insist that he decides the lineups, this move could be a coach killer. If Roy refuses to play with Dre and the team is not winning, I don't think Nate will overrule Roy and start Dre or Rudy with Brandon. At that point they may need a new coach that is willing to tell Brandon that the Coach decides who plays and will put in the lineups with the best chance of winning, without regard to egos.

I'm more than willing to give Brandon the benefit of the doubt, and I hope this move results in better play. BUT, if it doesn't Brandon needs to shut up and do what's best for the team.

Seems to me that Brandon is putting a LOT of pressure on himself....I hope he's up to it.

I think he should say that. Take the team on his back during games, and take the heat off the court as well. It's obvious to all of us that he's just not comfortable playing with another PG other than Blake. He is our best player and he does have a point that players must adjust to their system. As long as they feed the beast too. If he's taking shit about Oden, then there is a problem

One thing I forgot to add to my previous post...they can now officially say goodbye to those easy baskets they've been getting by taking advantage of LMA's ability to outrun all other PF's in the league. HUGE waste of LMA's talent. The guy runs like a deer, and before Dre, he never was rewarded for running hard.

    You heard the man

"but me sacrificing hurt the team, so it should get back to me playing full-out and getting some other guys in other areas to sacrifice a little bit"

    Everyone bow down to Roy

I suspect Aldridge will be the player, along-side with Miller when he comes in. Possibly even Oden as well. I think Nate knows Miller feeds the beast.

He's right. The team was chit on offense. Get back to using your All-Star like an All-Star, and not some spot-up shooter. If that's the idea, the Blazers may as well trade Roy for Rip Hamilton.

Their offensive efficiency was one spot higher than the Lakers and one spot lower than the Mavericks :dunno:

OR, Brandon could learn to play off the ball. I said last summer that his is a big hole in Brandon's game. Run though some screens, so he gets that ball without three guys checking him.

I don't know if Roy is unwilling to do this, or unable to do it.

Another angle is that Dre doesn't seem to get the ball to Roy at the right instant, on the occasions that Roy is running though picks. I don't know if that is related to them not playing together enough to Dre to know when to get Roy the ball, or if Dre has his nose bent out of shape because Roy has been so clear that he doesn't want to play with him.

So are we back to Roy and his funky bunch of best friends? Cool... I guess, if you're into first round exits.

If the idea is to turn Roy into Rip Hamilton, why not trade Roy for Rip Hamilton? In the meantime, why can't zero-time All-Star and zero-time playoff winner Andre Miller learn not to dominate the ball? :dunno:

Good for Roy! I am glad he is stepping up and saying what is really on his mind. Nate is a TERRIBLE head coach. He is a teacher and a motivator. But a terrible coach. Roy can see that.

How many other teams switch starting lineups every game? Not many.

About time our 2 time all star, franchise player, leader is back to his natural position. I really thought Miller and Roy would be able to work it out. A lot of the blame falls on Nate he should have played Miller at PG and Roy at SG all preseason to let them try to create some chemistry. Nate is a damn good defensive coach but really struggles on creating on new offensive sets. For the first time since Nate has been a coach I really question whether he's the right guy to take us to the next step.

This is why I think Nate agreed to take a series of 1-year contracts instead of an X-year contract. At the end of each season, they can part ways peacefully without Nate getting fired. This lets Portland look magnanimous, and Nate look "good enough to move on" instead of "yet another fired coach".

ROY IS NOT A PG BUT HE THINKS HE IS!!!!!! We will be one and done every year till this changes maybe we have to trade roy......

yes he is our best player but he is UNwilling to change his game to make his team mates better....NATE AND ROY need to be broken up.

Roy is our brass balls and our achilles heel.

yes he tanked it to get his way....nate should have just put roy at the 2 not the 3 but he is weak.

    So is the Lakers.

Expecting numbers to stay the same year in and year out is foolish. Numbers will change no matter if you keep the same lineup or not.
