This is good, beefing up the middles and getting rid of a guy that just stands out there and shoots the ball...

Now all we need is a back up PG..And maybe a better coach hahaha.

I see the Sonics getting the better part of this deal. Wilcox has a lot of athleticism and power. Good trade on Seattle's part.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Casual:</div><div class="quote_post">The only problem is that Wilcox's development might be hurt by going to a losing team from a winning one.</div>

He's played on the Clippers for his entire career to date - somehow I think he's probably used to being on a losing team.

Anyway, to echo everyone else in this thread, I think this is an outstanding deal. Then again, I'd think trading Vlad for Odde was probably an outstanding deal as well. But to get rid of him, and bring back genuine talent and size is an outstanding deal.

Well done Rick Sund, you're starting to win me over Shieky.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Sonics forward Rashard Lewis heard about the deal in the team hotel from a teammate and said he was displeased that management did not approach him or Ray Allen about the trade.

"I don't know what the front office is doing, they don't communicate with us as much as they probably should," he said. "I think (they should inform us), because we're the captains of the team, out of respect.

"With the type of money that they're paying us, even if we don't have the last decision, they could at least let us know or put that bug in your ear. But I guess it's our job to worry about what's on the court and their job to bring players in here who can help us."

Lewis said he wouldn't be surprised if he or Allen were eventually traded.

"You never know, anything can happen from here on out," he said. "It could be any of us in this locker room, even me or Ray with the way the season is turning out. I've seen it happen to Gary (Payton) and Desmond (Mason), so you never get settled. You can't think you are going to be on one team."</div>

[IMG] And what great captains they are.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">A restricted free agent last summer, Radmanovic rejected a five-year, $42 million extension and signed a one-year, $3.1 million qualifying offer. The pressure of playing for a big-money contract, as well as perhaps regretting his decision to pass on the long-term deal, seemed to weigh heavily on Radmanovic.</div>

    Blame his agent.

I would also like to add that it'll be a pleasure not to have to watch every team dump the ball to their PF every time down court, and then watch our defense scramble around like chicken with their heads cut off trying to 'rotate'.

Can anyone comment on Wilcox's passing from the high post? I haven't seen enough of him to know how he is away from the basket.

Though I hate it, Hill has the 4 start with the ball at the top of the key on most of the half court sets and then make a decision. Nick does OK, Reggie just gives the ball right back to Luke and Vlade usually made a bad choice, but with the frequency of this tactic Wilcox better have decent BB IQ and be able to pass the ball.

I haven't seen much of Wilcox play as well. Last season though I remember when Kaman was out with injury in the beginning of the season, Wilcox stepped in and he was getting a double double consistently...again...just repeating myself and everyone else...we just need a DEFENSIVE minded backup PG and maybe another shooting guard since we're gonna trade flip...though whoever comes in wont play much because of Ray....good deal overall.

I've seen him play plenty under the basket, enough to know what we are getting there...just curious whether Hill will fit him into the system or make changes based on his strengths, which are new to the team.

Truth be told, as much as I soured on Vlade over the years, I actually think this was good for both teams. I honestly don't think that either is any better at what they do than the other, but they do different things, and they are more in line with what each team needs.

Theoretically, Vlad should have a ball sitting on the perimeter with Brand and Kaman on the blocks, and Maggette injured.

I just got back from on the road and I'm glad that I haven't heard one person say that this wasn't a great deal.

I didn't think it was possible for us to even move Vlad, let alone get a promising prospect for him. Does Chris Wilcox have Stoudamire potential? No. But he is the closest thing that we've had to an explosive front court player since Shawn Kemp, and we got him for next to nothing.

I'm thinking that the Clips feel that they can resign Vlad on the cheap b/c of how poorly he's played this year. With Brand and Kaman, Vlad will have the opportunity to get some more wide open looks, and the Clips do not have great perimeter shooting wings.

This was obviously an improvement on our part but I am more interested in seeing the moves to come. If we can lock Wilcox up for some more season at a reasonable price I will be more happy than I am now for sure.

    Good job Rick.

I'm too lazy to read the whole thread, so I apologize if this has already been said....

Is it just me or are we trying to pick up all of the players that the Clippers simply don't want? First Rick Brunson, who hasn't done anything but keep the bench smooth. Then Mikki Morre, who hasn't done anything but play in garbage time and then taunt the opposing bench when he scores. Now Chris Wilcox.

I especially enjoed how all the local news stations managed to compile all 3 of the highlights from Chris Wilcox's career. Then they showed them over and over again, almost as if they are trying to convice the fans that he can somehow help this team. Of course I'm aware that this trade was done simply so we weren't left with nothing. But could we have gone after a Dunleavy-type?

I predict that Cuttino Mobley will be in the Green and Gold before the trade deadline.

I should come around more often. That is funny.
