http://sports.yahoo.com/news/source--thunder-fire-coach-scott-brooks-173528838.html The Oklahoma City Thunder has fired head coach Scott Brooks. Thunder general manager Sam Presti traveled to meet Brooks near his California home on Wednesday and delivered the news, sources told Yahoo Sports.
Scott is stubborn man. I remember him overplaying Perkins for no reason, he's not good at adjusting, etc.
Their management chose Ibaka over Harden. In Durant they have on MVP winner. Westbrook is in the discussion. Harden is one of two players favored to win it. Who'd they trade for Perkins? Jeff Green, I think. Boy did that team shed some serious talent. The team is truly in a small market, not a highly profitable team dumping salaries to increase profits. But their choices seem questionable at best.
Another NBA COY out of work. All of their key players missed significant time and Durant missed 50+ games. The team finished 8 games over .500. There are certainly worse basketball coaches. Despite the public support they've shown for Brooks, I'd be surprised if either Durant of Westbrook is torn up inside by the firing.
The Mayor isn't a candidate to replace him. I wonder why. OK, that was rhetorical. I don't wonder why.
Honestly, I there may not be. I view Scott Brooks as validation for the truism that it really is almost all about talent in the NBA. His rotations were okay. His schemes . . . not so much.
