    I think Melo ends up in Houston if he leaves. Houston seems willing to part with players to make the cap room, plus they've been willing to bring in superstar caliber players all along (DHoward, Harden, even Lin & Omer).

    We've been willing to bring in superstars too. Be it Duncan or McGrady. James, Wade, or Bosh. Now Anthony.

    It just hasn't occured.

    Not because we haven't attempted.

    Anthony may end up in Houston. The no state income tax may factor into that. Maybe Anthony likes the idea of teaming up with Howard abd Harden better. Or maybe he convinces James to bolt to Houston too and Houston can offer up Harden, which will beat anything we can offer.

    But it won't be because we weren't interested or didn't try.

    And he did...in 2008. Rose, Noah, Gibson and Hinrich also signed extensions.

    Different CBA then.

    Consider Portland just offered LMA a max extension. He's in the last year of his contract, just like Lu was for us.

    Seems they actually want to keep him.

    And? If Deng was as good offensively as Aldridge, I'm sure the front office would have handled contact talks differently.

    I think if they wanted to keep Deng, they would have handled contract talks differently.

    They made a token offer. $10M is no small offer, but it's a 33% pay cut. And "take it or leave it."

    In the past, they would tell guys they wanted to keep, but at a discount, "go get your best offer and we'll match it."

    I agree that they didn't seem intent on keeping him unless it was for a certain price. Deng is what he is. He isn't going to develop any further offensively. And the Bulls need another scorer and shooters. Deng isn't a creator. Isn't a great second option. Isn't a great shooter.

    So what's your point bringing up Portland offering the maximum to Aldridge?

    That's what teams do that want to keep their players. Make them feel wanted. Not at some much lesser price.

    ESPN just reported that Melo will meet with the Bulls first on Tuesday.

    Then Houston and Dallas on Wednesday.

    Then the Lakers later on. No date was given for them.

    Chicago Bulls Taj Gibson and Joakim Noah both expected to be at the Carmelo Anthony meeting tomorrow.

    Both expected to make sales pitch and this likely means that Taj Gibson is unlikely to be traded.
